Vigilante Episode 1 Preview: Nam Joo-hyuk’s upcoming action-thriller series (비질란테) is already making waves ahead of its premiere next week. Directed by Choi Jeong-yeol, the South Korean drama series has been created by Moon Yoo-seok and written for screen by Lee Min-seop. Based on Kim Gyu-sam’s Naver webtoon of the same name, the dark-themed web series initially premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2023, where the first three episodes of the show were screened in October 2023.

Now, a month later, with Studio N pushing for the soon to release K-drama’s production, the new title will mark Joo-hyuk’s return to the small screen following his 2022 K-drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One with Kim Tae-ri. The new series will catch him switching roles in the night and assuming the titular responsibility as a vigilante out to serve justice at night, much like Batman fighting crime in Gotham.

By day, Kim Ji-yong is the perfect model police academy student, but as soon as the night falls, he switches roles and takes over as a dark hero created by society. Taking matters into his hands, he serves justice in his own way, by directly dealing with criminals who’ve otherwise been let off easy by the system.

The main cast of the show includes Nam Joo-hyuk as Kim Ji-yong, Yoo Ji-tae as Jo Heon, Lee Joon-hyuk as Cho Kang-ok and Kim So-jin as Choi Mi-ryeo.

Where to Watch Vigilante

Nam Joo-hyuk’s new series is an Disney+ Original title, so it will be released on Disney+ every Wednesday. Reportedly, two episodes will drop every Wednesday.

Vigilante Episode 1 Release Date and Time

With the daylight saving time ending soon, the first episode of Vigilante can be expected to premiere on November 8, 2023, onDisney+ Hotstar at 1:30 PM IST, instead of the usual 12:30 PM IST time slot. Episode 2 is quite likely dropping on the streamer on the same date.

In every society, though law appears to at the top of the social pyramid, guiding each individual’s actions, some people go to great lengths to overthrow the basic perception of status quo and order. On top of that, many of these law-breakers often end up walking on a bloody path, and even find their way through the narrow window to make their escape from law enforcement’s grasp.

To shut this escape route for once and for all, Kim Ji-yong, whose mother was murdered in the streets when he was a kid, saw that the perpetrator received a short prison sentence. On growing up, he realises that the man has barely changed his ways, so he decides to deal with him in his own way.

He eventually starts leading a double life, but while he’s out catching criminals who’ve been let off easy, Detective Cho Kang-ok is after the man called Vigilante.

Vigilante episodes will be exclusively released on Disney+ Hotstar every Wednesday from November 8, 2023.
