The Witch And The Beast Episode 3 Review and Recap – The Mystery Behind The Witch

This episode starts right from the part where the second episode ended when we saw Officer Keira and our protagonists trying their best to understand the witch attacks. The enemy that they’re dealing with is not someone to be taken lightly, as not only is she merciless in her killings, but she also leaves riddles after she is done. It is as if she, time and time again, the witch wants to make it apparent that she is a witch and is the one who is taking one life after another.

Another interesting fact about this witch is her apparent connection with Officer Keira. Almost everyone who becomes close to Keira is the first one to die, and Ashaf and Guideau understand it after the witch attacks them. They also imply that the witch might be connected with the killing of Keira’s sons and her lover.

And because of their close connection with the police officer, Ashaf and Guideau get targeted by the witch the moment they become alone. But it is not that easy to defeat them even when the witch clearly possesses qualities that transcend normal witches. Her quality of vanishing into thin air is the deadliest one. But perhaps the most shocking part of the episode was the conclusion and how the “witch” meets its end.

The mystery in this one is really good, and you really will not know till the end, where the story is going. We also got a look at how magic works in this world and even learned about the concept of Grimoire. This anime is also unexpectedly gory and does not shy away from showcasing blood where it is needed.

The characters are also very realistic and prone to cruelty, which gives this anime a very mature tone. This is indeed a Seinen anime, and the targeted audience is not at all kids, even when the world deals with magic. And this does feel pretty nice because this season, we do not have an anime as gothic and enigmatic as this one.

Verdict

This anime is slowly becoming a very interesting series, and I’m already pretty invested in the plot. The dark atmosphere and the unapologetic bloodshed come off as refreshing in a season where we lack that many good anime to watch. So, if you want something different and unique, definitely check this out.
