Dawn FM is the Weeknd’s fifth studio album which serves as a follow-up to After Hours from 2020. Released on January 7, 2022, the album’s narrator is our very own Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star Jim Carrey. But, Carrey is not the only star to feature in the album. We see guest appearances from Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne too! Released through XO and Republic Records, the album also has narrations from Josh Safdie and Quincy Jones. The production bench for the album includes big names like Max Martin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Oscar Holter, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia and several others.
The format of The Weeknd’s Dawn FM is a rather unique one as the album starts with a voice-over of listening to a radio show. With heavy themes of existentialism, the album as elaborated by the singer himself is more like a journey song that plays while a person is in purgatory, waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. The album cover shows a dramatically aged version of The Weeknd and the trailer that the singer shared prior to the release of the song also gave hints on what we can expect from the upcoming album videos.
Meanwhile, the release of Dawn FM after almost two years made its peak as soon as it was released. Fans have taken over Twitter to share their feelings about the album and it is all good words with hilarious memes! Let us have a look.
