The Vvaan Reviews on X: The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sunil Grover, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, has managed to make people have feelings about it, and X (formerly Twitter) reviews arriving after its theatrical release are not unanimous.
The film’s folklore-rooted premise, Chhath setting, mythology, fantasy elements and the larger-than-life climax seem to be working beautifully for some viewers, while others believe that the same ingredients are let down by the screenplay, visuals and performances.

The Vvaan Reviews on X: For Some Viewers, The Vvaan Is Finally Bollywood Doing Something Different
The most consistent praise across the positive reviews is not necessarily for individual plot points but for the world that The Vvaan attempts to create. X user @Apna_Bollywood called the film a “refreshing win for homegrown fantasy”, giving it 3.5 stars and highlighting its world-building.
The review particularly wrote, “The biggest asset is the world-building. Integrating folklore, Van Devi, and Chhath Puja gives it an incredible distinct identity”, further describing it as “experimental, rooted storytelling”.
Another user, @thegosssipqueen, praised the film’s fresh storytelling, pointing out that the movie revolves around Indian mythology while also placing the Chhath festival at the centre in a mainstream film for the first time. The rating given was 6.5/10.
The review credited Deepak Mishra by writing, “Director Deepak Mishra has already shown his capabilities with panchayat series to display North Indian rural scenarios”, also praising the sequences “specially around the Vvan Devi temple. You really feel the goosebumps & tension”. They also praised the Chhathi Maiyya song featuring the late Sharda Sinha’s voice.
The Cast Get Their Flowers
If there is one name that repeatedly pops up in the X reactions, it is Sunil Grover. Several viewers are essentially saying that he rightly understood the assignment. For user @thegosssipqueen, Sunil Grover seems to be one of the best actors in the country, praising the way he carried the movie and made his presence felt. They also mentioned that Anoop Soni and Shweta Tiwari did great despite their small roles.
User @Apna_Bollywood also called him an “absolute standout”, while @MovieReview_Hub said he makes an impact alongside Sidharth Malhotra, writing, “Sidharth Malhotra shines in key sequences, while Sunil Grover also makes an impact.”
Reviews around Sidharth Malhotra seem complicated: @Apna_Bollywood feels Malhotra suits the part perfectly; @MovieReview_Hub similarly highlights his performance in key sequences.
User @Mass_MLA’s reaction, in fact, describes his performance in the second half as leading, as they write, “Overall worth watching 2nd half is better with high octane climax, & backstory, climax was @SidMalhotra & @WhoSunilGrover show, hats off to Sam CS for the BGM”. Another X user, @aavishhkar, wrote, “Sidharth Malhotra gives it his all and lands a few strong moments, but the grand fantasy scale feels a bit too heavy for him to carry. The user described Tamannaah Bhatia’s performance as decent while @gosssipqueen felt that her dialogue delivery interrupted the flow of some scenes.

The Climax and the VFX
The climax of the movie has been consistently praised, with users calling it “beautifully executed” and “absolute cinema”. User @RaamMeena’s one-word review was “BLOCKBUSTER”.
For @aavishhkar, the film was a 2.5/10, describing it as a rich folklore concept dragged down by weak execution and poor visuals, while also mentioning that they felt the screenplay became increasingly confused as the story progressed. User @Mass_MLA wrote, “Vfx is the negative point for #TheVvaan & sometimes screenplay breaks the continuity”
So Is The Vvaan Actually Good?
The answer depends entirely upon which corner of X you stumble upon, since the reactions are vastly divisive.
Some reviews call it “BLOCKBUSTER” while there are also the ones that call it a “decent one-time watch”. While some find the screen presence of the actors praiseworthy, some criticise their dialogue delivery.
Sunil Grover seems to stand out, and there are people praising him specifically.
Behind all the ratings and declarations on X, the fairly interesting conversation that X seems to carry is whether a film with a genuinely fresh, culturally rooted idea still shake because its execution does not meet the ambition.
