The Trunk: Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin to Team Up for a Unique Spousal Kdrama

The year 2023 has seen some amazing Korean Dramas, especially on Netflix. Some are yet to release in the coming months. But the streaming platform doesn’t leave a chance to surprise their viewers with new announcements. Today, Netflix K-Content announced The Trunk, an interesting Kdrama that stars Gong Ji-cheol aka Gong Yoo (Squid Game, The Silent Sea) Woo and Seo Hyun-jin (Another Miss Oh, Why Her?) together. The news has made K-drama lovers around the world ecstatic.

About the premise of the show, the streaming platform shared, “The story draws a whirlwind of unforeseen events and secrets after a mystifying trunk is found in the depths of a lake.” Gong Yoo will play the character of Jeong-won, and Hyun-jin will essay In-ji. The premise further reads that Jeong-won meets In-ji through a contract-based marriage agency set up by his ex-wife Seo-yeon, now his “second wife.” Their lives, however, take a turn when they become entangled in the secrets and happenings surrounding the matchmaking agency thanks to a mysterious trunk discovered in the lake.

Kim Gyu-tae (A Love to Kill, Moon: Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo) will direct the Kdrama. The story is penned by Park Sun-young of HWARANG. Not much details about the supporting cast and the release date are revealed. But the lead pair news is enough to look forward to the unique spousal drama.

Meanwhile, Gong Yoo has some exciting upcoming projects. The actor will be a part of Netflix’s Wonderland movie. He will also reprise his mysterious role in Squid Game Season 2. The last time the last made fans swoon over him in a romantic drama was in 2016 with the show Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

On the other hand, Seo Hyun-jin was last seen in the movie Cassiopeia (2022). In 2021, she starred in You Are My Spring; in 2022, she won hearts in Why Her.
