The Seven Deadly Sins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 Ending Explained: The Seven Deadly Sins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 (七つの大罪: 怨嗟のエジンバラ) premiered on Netflix on August 8, 2023, with a total runtime of approximately 54 minutes. It is a two-part spin-off movie of one of the most popular and longest-running anime franchises, The Seven Deadly Sins. Directed by Bob Shirohata and written by Rintarou Ikeda and Nakaba Suzuki, the movie follows the life of Prince Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth.

Yuuki Kaji is reprising his role as Meliodas from the anime series. Mikako Komatsu is voicing Tristan, the son of Meliodas, with Ayumu Murase voicing an older Tristan. The other supporting and recurring cast includes Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth, Jun Fukuyama as King, Aoi Yūki as Diane, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ban, Yuuhei Takagi as Gowther, Kouki Uchiyama as a fairy, Yōhei Azakami as Deathpierce, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Priest, Shinnosuke Tokudome as Tyrone, Shino Shimoji as Kurumiru and Makoto Koichi as Minika.

The anime film is a collaborative production between the Marvy Jack Studios and Alfred Imageworks. The film was originally shot in Japanese and is available with English dub and subtitles.

After it is revealed that the unnamed fairy is none other than Lancelot, Tritan is ambushed by hurtful childhood memories. He looks at the scar on Lancelot’s forehead and realises that he lost control of his power during training and ended up hurting him tremendously. However, they both forget about the past and join forces to defeat the evil.

Who put a curse on Elizabeth?

Later in the movie, it is revealed that the one who put a curse on Elizabeth is Deathpierce from Edinburgh, who is seeking revenge on Meliodas. His ultimate objective is to destroy and overrule the kingdom ruled by a Demon King and Goddess Queen. Hence, he put a powerful curse with the help of a Priest, which is impossible to break without the healing power of the Goddess Race or the age-old remedy used by the Fairy Race.

How did Tristan break the curse?

During the ongoing battle, Tristan and Lancelot have overpowered by Deathpierce and the Priest. However, they receive help from the old gang, Meliodas, Ban and Rowler. The trio enter the battlefield like old times and very easily wipes out the entire army within minutes. This instance makes shocks everyone, including, Tristan, Lancelot, Deathpierce and the Priest. At the opportunity, Tristen heads over to kill the Priest and break the curse. He is met with some resistance, but he successfully takes down the monster, resulting in breaking Elizabeth’s curse.

Did Tristan overcome his fears?

The war is not over yet, and both Tristan and Lancelot continue to fight the monsters. But he remains unable to unleash his full potential as he is afraid of hurting others. However, Lancelot’s continuous persuasion helps Tristan in letting himself go and show his power. Tristan overcomes his fears and skillfully defeats the monsters, and saves the day.

The aftermath

Following the battle, Lancelot finds Deathpierce with the staff of chaos. In flashbacks, it is shown that the staff was given to him by King Arthur himself. Lancelot grabs the staff and smashes it which results in all of them transporting back to Edinburgh. Tristan finds both his parents, Elizabeth and Meliodas, and they get reunited. On the other hand, Lancelot sets out on his own journey along with Jericho, who is assigned to guard him by his father, Ban.
