My Happy Marriage Episode 6 Review: Determination and Thunder

The fifth episode premiered on August 9, 2023, on Netflix. My Happy Marriage (My Blissful Marriage) is an upcoming anime series which will be premiering on Netflix. Based on the light novel of the same name written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka, it also has a manga adaptation illustrated by Rito Kohsaka.

The live-action film adaptation of the fantasy series was released in Japan on March 2023. Following the story of Miyo, who enters an arranged marriage with a ruthless commander, officially got its own anime series announced to be directed by Takehiro Kubota under Kinema Citrus Studios. Ami Satō, Takahito Ōnishi and Momoka Toyoda are credited as the writers, and Evan Call gives the music.

Licensed under Netflix, the series is scheduled to run for 13 episodes. With an estimated duration of 20-25 minutes each, the episodes are available in English dub and subtitles. The opening theme song is Anata no Soba ni (貴方の側に。, “By Your Side”) by Riria and the ending theme song, Vita Philosophica (ヰタ・フィロソフィカ), is performed by Kashitarō Itō.

The latest episode picks up from where the last one left off. The plot revolves around Miyo getting kidnapped by her stepmother and step-sister in an attempt to break her relationship with Kiyoka. However, with the help of Kouji, Kiyoka manages to break out Miyo from where she was held back to the Kudou house.

The plot has been increasingly developing with the onset of the new episode and showcases the complications within the family. Miyo, who has been a victim of abuse from her own family, was finally able to break free from the toxic cycle. However, they keep pulling her back and forcing her to live the same miserable life. Most importantly, they want to control her life to every extent.

However, Miyo’s character has been developing constantly throughout the series. Previously, she was always timid and afraid of everyone around her. She lacked the confidence to speak her mind and even stand up for herself. But after receiving support from Kiyoka, she has found the confidence to become her own person and has the courage to demand the things that she deserves.

Apart from the plot, the animation of the episode remains top-tier and captures the essence of excitement and intensity. These masterfully choreographed battles transcend the boundaries of reality, utilizing vibrant colours, intricate details, and fluid animation to create a sensory feast for the eyes. The dynamic interplay between character emotions and their surroundings adds layers of depth to these scenes, drawing viewers into a world where kinetic energy meets emotional resonance.

Additionally, the voice actors have done an incredible job of portraying their respective characters. They have adequately shown their emotions and displayed a range of reactions that captures the true essence of every scene. It is important to mention that even the dubbed English version has also done justice to the characters.

The new episode is one of the best ones so far in the entire series. The plot has developed a lot, along with the characters, extensively. Moreover, the epic battle between the characters adds to the quality of the story and further elevates the storyline. As Kudou and Miyo’s relationship develops, the plot becomes more complex and the narrative more amazing and uplifting. The animation’s ongoing excellence provides the viewer with an immersive experience.
