The Playlist Trailer: Daniel Ek’s Revolution That Spotify-ed Us All

Netflix is putting a new yet familiar story on the table with the release of The Playlist this October. The upcoming limited series recounts a fictional biographical birth account of the number 1 legal music service, Spotify.

Starring Edvin Endre, Christian Hillborg, Ulf Stenberg, and more, the series will retake us to the older eras of the music industry, when content piracy was at its peak. Music and movies being downloaded off websites like Torrent, Pirate Bay, and more, were what passed the time of the interested public.

The Playlist

In a world ruled by Torrents, Swedish entrepreneur Daniel Ek, along with his partner Martin Lorentzon, paved the way for legalized music streaming for free by creating Spotify. While music is just an artistic and creative getaway for some of us, for others it’s more than that. It goes ahead to pay the bills too, but what happens when there’s no formal platform to distribute the same?

A lot of heavy business jargon accompanies this seemingly beautiful musical world. As the trailer reveals, the show will thread “6 untold stories that shaped the music industry”.

The Playlist doesn’t shy away from unmasking the dirty trade secrets that run underneath it all. It bridges the gap between the listener and the music industry by revealing all that goes on behind the scenes before putting out the various music releases on the platform, simultaneously benefitting the artist as well.

With a strong tagline that states, “Changing the World Means Making Some Noise”, the forthcoming Netflix series will change the way you view the music platform forever. An app that exists on almost every phone across the world has a lot of conceals endless confidential truths that are just waiting to be outed now.
