Jude Chukwuka as Baba Fawole embodies the character everyone hoped for, emphasizing the importance of good people even in adverse circumstances. The dislike for the character of Mother Superior, played by Iretiola Doyle, remains constant, portraying her as selfish, even in the face of revelation.
The pacing of Episode 2 is almost perfect, with every scene serving a purpose in advancing the plot or deepening the character dynamics. Moments of quiet introspection are juxtaposed with intense, pulse-pounding sequences, creating a balanced viewing experience that never feels rushed or drawn out.
What sets Madam Koi Koi apart is the simplicity of its storytelling. The narrative revolves around a seemingly normal community living a simple life, yet harbouring the root cause of the evil spirit’s creation and suffering. There are no exaggerated action scenes, and the encounters between the evil spirit and her victims are portrayed authentically. The use of calmness and silence to convey emotions is also a refreshing departure from the usual loudness seen in many Nollywood films and series.
The only issue I had was with the conclusion. Adding a touch more suspense to the climax would have elevated it to a truly perfect horror. Instead of dispatching the boys all at once, it could have instilled a lingering fear in them, prompting reflection on their misguided actions.
