The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 5: Positive, Front-Facing Optics

The episode starts off with Allie being questioned by Isela and Guillermo about Charlie. They let him know that his son had put the entire island’s safety and privacy in jeopardy. They begin to threaten Allie that they will banish him and his entire family from the island or they will injure him as a form of punishment. But after much discussion, they come to the conclusion that Allie would have to prove his loyalty by completing a very important mission.

They order him to stop a company that has been trying to build a resort on the island that will cause many problems for the numerous people and families living in there. Allie agrees to complete the mission since he has no choice left. But things take an interesting turn when he finds out that he has to work with the same assassin that was trying to kill him and his entire family in season 1.

Meanwhile, back on the island, things further become complicated when Margot is confronted with a familiar face from the past. Her former lover and partner in crime (literally), Richard, appears again. Confused and flabbergasted, she confronts the man and asks about his intentions of arriving on the island. While they are talking, Dina overhears their entire conversation and blames her mother for making their lives miserable for more than 10 years.

Allie and William, back at the hotel, manage to complete their mission. They put a recording of all the families at the party on display in an attempt to scare them so that they refrain from contributing any capital to the project. But they announce a high-security alert in the entire building, which also traps them as well, ending the episode on a cliffhanger.

The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 5 Review

By far, this episode is one of the best of the series. The plot of the episode was tight and remained consistently interesting. A lot of things happened in the episode, but the story evolved gradually. The sub-plots were not overlapping with each other, which kept the viewers hooked.

The characters were also given ample amounts of space and screen time for seamless development. The actors made use of the good plot and showed off their acting abilities. The duo, Justin Theroux and Ian Hart, outshined the most. Their on-screen chemistry of the bad cop and the good cop was a satisfactory addition to the story.
