The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 1 Recap

The protagonist, Mimori, leads a double life as a convenience store clerk and a powerful magical girl. She easily defeats the dragon with a single strike. However, chaos ensues when she encounters Mira, the king of evil’s right-hand man. This meeting sparks an awkward yet charming romance between the two supposed enemies.
The anime (かつて魔法少女と悪は敵対していた。) effortlessly blends humour and entertainment. Mira, the confused evil lieutenant, is hilariously torn between his upbringing and newfound feelings for Mimori. Despite his evil background and deeds, he is smitten with Mimori from their first encounter. Mimori, who became a magical girl due to financial struggles, appreciates Mira’s care and is unfazed by their forbidden relationship, even enjoying the food he brings her during their meetings.
The animation is clean and visually appealing, with vibrant colours and lighting. The heroine is irresistibly cute, making it easy to empathize with Mira’s affection for her. The sweet dynamic between the leads makes their relationship highly shippable. Both the opening and ending themes perfectly capture the show’s mood, enhancing the overall experience.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 2 Review

We are back with another episode that is filled with sweet moments and heart-thumping situations. Our evil Lieutenant is head over heels for the female protagonist, and it is not news to us. He got completely enamoured with her after he saw her for the very first time while fighting against her. Since then, he has been trying his best to turn his sudden love into hatred, but he has been unsuccessful till now.
On top of that, after knowing the dreary state of our heroine Mimori, evil Lieutenant Mira has been trying to feed her whenever the chance arises. This time as well this episode opens with our hero acting very much like a stalker and trying to find any and every information he can get his hands on regarding his newfound obsession. Sadly for him, there is very little about her on the net, and he doesn’t even know her actual name.

Thus, he kind of abducts the best pastry chef and secures the best desserts so that he can provide these treats to Mimori. It is also in this meeting that he, for the very first time, sees her transform into a magical girl and straight up asks her to do it again so that he can film her. However, his patience and his resilience almost break when Mimori offers to mend his shirt that he damaged a while ago. He is aware that this sort of setting is like the situation of newlyweds, and the thought alone makes him blush.
We also understand more about her very poor situation, where she does multiple part-time jobs. Not only that, but the cat that bullied her into becoming a magical girl made her hand business cards to sell massages. This cat is definitely a shady individual, and he is also most likely taking advantage of her by stealing all her money and mooching off of her.

Verdict
The episodes that we see are very sweet, cute and endearing. One bad aspect of this anime will have to be its extremely short run time which is only around 12 minutes, along with the opening and ending themes. We definitely need more of the interaction between the protagonists but this sort of short moments also adds to the appeal of their relationship.
