This was a surprisingly good watch, and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. The premise is simple yet interesting as we see a world where magical girls work for the good side and stop an evil organisation that operates under the orders of the king of evil. This organisation is notorious for creating mayhem for humans and even unleashing a dragon within the city.

Our female protagonist, Mimori Byakuya, is a convenience store clerk who is also a magical girl on the side. She is very powerful, as we see her eliminate the dragon with a single strike of her wand. However, when she comes in front of the right-hand man of the king of evil himself, Mira, all hell breaks loose. Hence, an awkward yet endearing love story starts between a magical girl and an evil Lieutenant in a world where they are supposed to be enemies.

This anime is effortlessly funny and entertaining. The antics of Mr evil Lieutenant, who is too confused about his own feelings, are downright hilarious. He was born into an evil family, trained as an evil person and then achieved his evil position by doing evil deeds. But after falling for his enemy on their very first meeting, he finds himself in a difficult position for obvious reasons. Mimori, who had to come to her profession because of her lack of funds, likes the fact that someone is there who actually cares for her. She doesn’t really care that they are not supposed to talk to each other and is welcoming of Mira, who feeds her whenever they meet.

The animation used here is very clean and pretty with the use of its colours and lighting. The heroine looks downright cute, and you kind of want to act the same way as Mira when you see her. The relationship between the leads is also very sweet, and you cannot help yourself but ship them. The opening and the ending themes are also very nice and fit the mood perfectly.

Verdict

I actually like this episode, and I believe the season can become a pretty famous one. This concept, though not a very fresh one, is still engaging to watch. Thus, I would like to witness more of this show to properly state whether it will be a good series or not.
