When is The King Who Never Was Releasing? All About the Crime Docuseries

Things that involve royalty are always dramatic, just like in The King Who Never Was, also known as Il Principe. When it comes to docuseries with the involvement of royalty, it is always interesting to see how their presence makes everything more complicated than it is. Add a death to it, and you’re guaranteed some conspiracy theory coming up to make everything even more enticing. Docuseries are amazing ways to find different perspectives on the same facts and events.

This series is directed by Beatrice Borromeo, who also joins as a producer along with Francesco Melzi d’Eril and Marco Morabito. Clarissa Cappellani serves as the cinematographer, while Giulia Tagliava serves as the music director. All the episodes (a total of 3) are edited by Cristina Flamini and Annalisa Forgione. Following the death of a German teenager, this Italian series looks at the involvement of multiple parties in the murder.

The King Who Never Was Cast

This series stars Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, also known as Prince Emanuele of Savoy, along with other cast members. Since this is a docuseries, there will mostly be archival footage featuring all the people involved in this tragic event.

The King Who Never Was Plot/Synopsis

Using old interviews, public appearances and trial documents, this series tries to paint a visual picture of what happened to ‘The Shooting Prince’ and how he was able to manoeuvre the legal system to his benefit and postpone the trial of a murder that he admitted he had committed. When asked questions about it, he would deflect and instead explain that they followed due process. It also seems that the producers of this docuseries contacted the royal member now in order to gain more credibility.

The old videos show how some people had started talking about the Prince’s involvement in the case and his use of money and power to usurp the public system for his benefit. Meanwhile, he talks about he has had to defend himself for 17 years describing this case and its intricacies in detail every time someone doubts him. This docuseries is essentially this man’s way of taking back his narrative and getting back at all those people who doubted his innocence.
