The Killing Vote Episode 9 Recap

In the episode, Chae Do-hee announces a new method related to Gaetals on the news saying that people can share their stories or needs in an open forum, and the most-liked posts will receive assistance from Gaetals. Meanwhile, a criminal named Jin-wook tries to escape but gets shot by the police. Hyun learns that Seok-joo is the real Gaetal, and Seok-joo escapes in a van that crashes into the police agency.

Hyun and his team try to capture Seok-joo, but he gets away on a bike. Seok-joo thinks about his time in prison, the letters he received, and his sad moments with his son Ji-hoon. Jin-wook is in the hospital after getting shot as he isn’t severely wounded. The police commissioner pressures Hyun and his team to catch Seok-joo.

Ji-hoon and other Gaetal members meet to find stolen files. Ji-hoon meets Hyun’s sister Min, but when he sees Seok-joo, he immediately goes to him cutting Min off. Min notices Ji-hoon’s strange behavior and discusses it with Hyun but the latter doesn’t bother much since she doesn’t know of his connection with Seok-joo. The Killing Votes, a mysterious online group, continues to gain followers. Ji-hoon somehow gets hold of Min-soo’s data.

Ji-young manipulates stories on an online forum to increase views, which upsets Do-hee. Mu-chan helps Do-hee by revealing Seok-joo’s escape as clickbait. The news spreads, and Hyun discovers a connection between Ji-hoon’s grandmother, Seok-joo’s doctor, and Ji-hoon’s teacher, Min-soo. This information worries Mu-chan.

Mu-chan visits Yang Hye-jin’s (Ji-hoon’s grandmother) house and suspects that Seok-joo is there, but fails to find him. Seok-joo gives a hint to another Gaetal member who delivers a message to Hyun. Hyun and Jo-dan pose as students to investigate a lead, only to discover that Min’s friend is not the real Gaetal leader. They receive a message that says, “See You When The Weather Is Nice.”

Seok-joo tells Ji-hoon that Hyun will crack the code, and Hyun realizes it’s about a weather app on mobile phones. The next day, Do-hee exposes a building scam, and Hyun stops the broadcast and reveals that the Gaetal accesses personal details through a hidden app when one downloads the weather app. People delete the additional weather app on their phones, angering Min-soo. During an argument, Do-hee reveals that Mu-chan leaked about Seok-joo’s escape. Hyun confronts Mu-chan for using Do-hee. Later, Gaetal members kill a scammer who had scammed people, leading the victims to end their lives.

Mu-chan and the police investigate the scammer’s death. Jo-dan and Hyun search Min-soo’s house for evidence, but Hyun gets locked in the secret room. Hyun finds a video of a child begging for help on Min-soo’s computer, suggesting he’s involved in something sinister. Min-soo discovers the lights on in his room, hinting that Hyun is now in grave danger.
