The Killer Trailer: Michael Fassbender Embraces the Role of a Stone-Cold Assassin in David Fincher’s Thriller

Michael Fassbender looks chillingly detached in The Killer trailer, which dropped on October 27, 2023. Directed by David Fincher from a screenplay by Andrew Kevin Walker, this neo-noir action-thriller movie is based on the French graphic novel series of the same name by Alexis “Matz” Nolent and illustrated by Luc Jacamon. Starring Fassbender in the lead role, the movie consists of an ensemble cast including Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O’Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

The story follows an assassin with his own set of rules and principles, who is dedicated to his job. However, he is suddenly embroiled in an international manhunt following a hit that goes utterly wrong. Ceán Chaffin produces the film and Erik Messerschmidt is credited as the cinematographer.

The trailer opens with Fassbender, who plays the role of the assassin, explaining how he does his work. He is a man who is invisible to the world with a stoic demeanour. With a captivating monologue, he captures the audience instantly with his deep voice. Moreover, he appears to have a French accent. But soon things started to derail and the situation escalated for the worse.

There are multiple scenes involving action sequences with multiple high-tech weapons. Moreover, the thrilling moments involve are lot of calculative moves and the assassin needs to tread lightly. However, he is not alone and gets help from another mysterious character played by Tilda Swinton. But he gets involved in a dire situation which he alone needs to figure a way out of.

The initial steps to start the project started in 2007 with Fincher as the director. But the plans fell through so the director took the project to Netflix and the production started soon after. The movie premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2023, and received critical acclaim from various reviewers. Moreover, it also received a theatrical release with limited screenings.

Apart from Fassbender and Swinton, the movie consists of a stellar cast featuring Charles Parnell as The Lawyer as Hodges, Kerry O’Malley as Dolores, Sala Baker as The Brute, Sophie Charlotte as Magdala, Arliss Howard as The Client, Emiliano Pernía as Marcus, Gabriel Polanco as Leo, Monique Ganderton as The Dominatrix, Jack Kesy as Salesman and more.

The movie is expected to consist of some brutal and grandiose hand-to-hand combat scenes including a realistic display of advanced weapons that will give an instant adrenaline rush. It will be interesting to witness how the story unfolds.

  1. This movie only for patients people, like in the start you wait 20 minutes for only one shot, then its and whole hour before the next fight or something happens,

    Most of it just talking and that guy traveling with plane train bus like 55% of the movie, and hes talking in hes head like even more,

    Not an action move, in the end last scene its felt like 20 minutes talk where someone begging for her life verrryy looonng coverstation,

    In this one i was acttuly rooting for the other people to kill that guy/murderer, they kinda dident desserve it,
