The Handmaid’s Tale: Will the Elisabeth Moss Dystopian Drama Return For Another Season?

With the fifth season’s finale out, fans are already wondering about the whereabouts of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6. The successful dystopian drama that has awakened many themes including that of feminism, politics, hierarchy in society, totalitarian elements of the world and more has become a fan favourite over the years and has a cult following. Thus, the pressure of knowing the possibility of another season for the show is highly heated.

The show is created by Bruce Miller and is based on the 1985 novel by Margaret Atwood of the same name. The show flaunts an ensemble cast and has many changing actors over the years. The primary cast for the series includes Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, who headlines the show along with Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford, Madeline Brewer as Janine, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, O-T Fagbenle as Luke, Max Minghella as Nick, Samira Wiley as Moira, Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence and Amanda Brugel as Rita.

When Will The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Release?

The announcement in regards to The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 was actually made before the arrival of season five. The makers and showrunners have clearly confined that there will be a sixth season for the show. However, as happy as that news is, it is also heartbreaking for many fans that the sixth season will mark the finale for the Handmaid’s Tale Universe and put an end to the long-running, award-winning series.

The fifth season of the show set out initial buildings for a sixth season very clearly. We saw June and Serena run into each other as they are on their way, running away from Canada. Where the train and their relationship will lead is all up to The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6. Meanwhile, the storylines concerning Luke and Janine are also left hanging, although, we can see that Nick finally experiencing freedom in Canada can be enough to close of their part in the story.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 will possibly release around late 2023 or 2024 depending on the progress of the production.
