The First Responders Season 2 Episode 12 Ending Explained: The First Responders Season 2 Episode 12 premiered on September 9, 2023, with a total runtime of 60 minutes. It is a new thriller K-drama series directed by Shin Kyung-soo and written by Min Ji-eun. The series (소방서 옆 경찰서) stars Kim Rae-won as Jin Ho-gae, Son Ho-jun as Bong Do-jin, and Gong Seung-yeon as Song Seol. The supporting and recurring cast includes Jung Jin-woo, Lee Jung-hu, Ji Woo, Jung Sang-hoon, Kang Gi-doong, Son Ji-yoon, Woo Mi-hwa, Seo Hyun-chul, Lee Hwa-jung, Jo Seung-yeon, Seo Jae-kyu, Lee Do-yub, Jo Hee-bong, Jeon Kuk-Hwan and more.

The second season premiered on SBS TV on August 4, 2023, and airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm KST, while the first season premiered on November 12, 2022, with a total of 12 episodes. The First Responders Season 2 takes over SBS’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Revenant.

The First Responders Season 2 Episode 12 Ending Explained

Following Ho-gae’s funeral, the police started investigating the culprit. However, the prosecution started to frame Ho-gae for the murders instead. But Pil, along with the cops, found the location of Sunyeol’s hideout. When they reached his place, it was too late, as he was found dead. Later, they found the camera, which was attached to Ho-gae’s suit and figured out that the culprit was still out there. The footage remained distorted because the camera was broken.

How was Ho-gae alive?

During the blast which killed the prosecutor, Ho-gae staged his death. With the help of Doha’s expert military equipment, he managed to build a silicon body double to make everyone believe that he was dead. Doha kept him inside the morgue so that no one could find out. However, no one knew about Dex’s true identity, which caused a lot of confusion amongst everyone. Ho-gae left the morgue as soon as he realised that Dex would harm Song Seol and reached the location instantly.

Did Ho-gae catch Dex?

Dex tricked Song Seol into going to the secluded location. Song Seol remained there, unconscious, and Dex was preparing to inject a lethal injection. On the other hand, Pil and Doha went to the site as well, but they got entrapped in a landmine. Ho-gae goes inside the room and hits Dex till he is unconscious and saves Song Seol. Dex is arrested and further prosecuted under different counts. He is then given life imprisonment in South Korea. Moreover, the representatives from the United States also arrived to extradite him and punish him for more than 10 murders.

What happened to Ho-gae?

Ho-gae recovered from his injuries and was put in the hospital. He and Song Seol finally express their love for each other. Moreover, Ho-gae also received a national award for his excellent work and persistence in catching the ruthless criminal. The entire team got together and celebrated for finally closing the case.
