The much-awaited 11th episode of The Eminence in Shadow (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and it has again managed to deliver a delightful watch. We got action, comedy and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.
The Eminence in Shadow Episode 11 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.
The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Trinity Seven, Strike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 11 Review and Recap – The Real Essence of Battle

This episode started off quite goofy and playful but completely changed its tone in the second half. Episode 11 begins with Cid describing things he likes and dislikes.
With that, we also come to know that one of the insignificant things he likes includes a nice bath in a hot spring. And he enjoys his trip to Lindwurm by visiting one such hot spring.
But he’s not alone, Cid nonchalantly barges into the hot spring where princess Alexia is also taking a bath. She is definitely flabbergasted by his antics and also confused at his blatant disregard for her presence. Still, she decides to play it off coolly and have a conversation with him rather than react to the situation.
Through that discussion, we, as viewers, understand the Goddess’s trial in detail. This trial is held annually, and on this day, the Divine Teachings opens the door to the sanctuary. Heroes from all over the world come to this ritual to fight with warriors of the past that the sanctuary then calls for.
According to the capabilities of the fighter, the sanctuary decides who to summon and the stronger the hero, the more powerful opponent he will get to fight.
But Alexia is not here for that, she is supposed to investigate the murder of the Archbishop, surrounding which there are already many mysteries. Cid, too, is unaware as to why Alpha has called him for this trial, and he only plans to be an observer of the whole ordeal.
The trial begins, and one after another, the heroes go back defeated, failing to fight the ancient warriors. And on the stands, we locate Rose, Princess Alexia and Gamma, just beside the new Archbishop having a rivalry amongst themselves.

Till then, nothing goes wrong for Cid, and he becomes so bored at one point he even thinks of crashing the whole event by appearing as Shadow and defeating all the enemies in a flashy way.
But hilariously, Rose already gave his name as a fighter in the trial, and Cid chooses to create confusion by appearing as Shadow to escape the spotlight as Cid Kagenou.

The moment he steps into the arena, the sanctuary doors open and comes out Aurora, the strongest witch of calamity. And what ensues is one of the greatest battles of this anime that Cid actually enjoys fighting.
Verdict
I liked this episode and appreciated how they incorporated their signature comedy with action sequences. This is hands down one of the best isekai anime of this season. Watch this anime on Netflix.
