The Divorce Insurance Episode 7 Review: Somehow the Cuteness Intensifies

Nothing else from the last episode matters – Ki-jun asked Han-deul whether she’d like to live with him after getting Hyeon-jae and Mi-rae married for the second time. The question is, will she agree?

After the fateful question from the last episode, Han-deul and Ki-jun seem to be living in each other’s places, not together! In a twist that no one probably liked, they find themselves in unknown territories and learning their new ways of life. We go back to their discussion from the other day, wherein Ki-jun proposes that they exchange houses since neither has any fond memories of their own homes. He asks that they exchange for a month and see how it goes.

Of course, Han-deul’s apartment feels like a deserted wasteland in comparison to Ki-jun and in the middle of the night, she runs over to give him pillows (which she doesn’t have). Funnily enough, she runs into him as he’s going out to get his charger, and they share a tender moment together. Afterwards, they run into each other again and find themselves awkwardly in each other’s arms before making a hasty exit.

The next morning, they go to the office together and run into Na-rae, who asks them whether something is going on between the two. She then proceeds to flirt with Jeon-man, who protectively towers over her in the lift. Tension also brews between Ki-jun and Han-deul in the elevator, and he asks to talk to her before going inside. Han-deul asks him about their relationship they are. She stumbles while getting into the romance category, and Ki-jun tells her that their relationship is in the grey area until they figure out where they are.

As the work day starts, they get the terrible news that one of their clients, Woo Seon-hee, has claimed the divorce insurance. The team finds the couple outside the courthouse, and it seems like they have already filed for divorce, which leaves Dae-bok on edge. However, Na-rae reminds them that there’s still a 4-week window within which they can cancel the process and asks them to work together and change their minds. It’s here that they suddenly meet their new team member, Nam Chang-hee, who helped Seon-hee file for the divorce insurance.

They proceed to meet both Seon-hee and Young-kyu separately, but are surprised to find that they are adamant about getting the divorce in spite of not grasping what that would entail. It’s an odd cookie to understand, and the team desperately tries to come up with a solution. Ki-jun suddenly realises that they can void the so they don’t have to pay, and for the plan to be a success.

As Seon-hee realises that her husband might be cheating on her, Jeon-man’s feelings for Na-rae soar to new heights. That night, Ki-jun meets Han-deul at his apartment, and the two discuss his behaviour from a few hours ago. He explains his actions, which helps her understand him better. And in a grand gesture, he tells her that he can’t be in a random zone with her and proceeds to kiss her. Or almost… we don’t see them make contact. I guess we will have to wait for the next episode!

The Divorce Insurance Episode 7 Review

I like the insane logic of this drama – who would’ve thought that you can just exchange your house with your colleague and just… be okay with it? How odd. However, I find myself drawn to the whimsy of this series. It’s light-hearted and very unserious, so much so that it sometimes doesn’t make sense. But that’s okay, I guess. I found myself smiling many times throughout the runtime, which is probably what the series was trying to do anyway.
