Season 2 of The Devil Is A Part-Timer has been a long time coming ever since the series was first released in 2013 and impressed a lot of viewers with its character development and storytelling. The Devil Is A Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 6 Review- Called It

Hell must have frozen over (or was it Ente Isla?), for I had never thought I would be saying this sentence unironically- the show is starting to redeem Lucifer reliably or is at least making a genuine attempt at it. It has been so long since I started hating that character that I had never expected this day to come, and I suspect it might be the same for all the other Lucifer-haters in the world. There are dozens of us! We deserve to be heard and hate him with all the passion that we have left in our hateful lives.

No, but seriously- he had some great moments in this episode. Everything he did in the aftermath of the scary incident at the start of the episode and towards the end of the episode when he talked with Emi was a genuine attempt to explain his actions and to improve as a person, which needs to be commended. This episode wasn’t all about him, but it might as well have been, considering he was the character who underwent the most change here. This version of Lucifer seems to be a much better fit in the overall cast of the show.

Speaking of the cast, there was seemingly a new addition to it this week in the form of the wise and respectful Camia, who was someone our hell trio knew from way back when. He fulfils the niche of a wise cute animal in the show, which we might as well have if we are going to have a baby (who is now a sword) here anyway. He was a nice presence in the show, and all the scenes with him and Alas Ramus were very cute. Alas Ramus is the best kind of kid in anime- just there to be cute and plot-important and not to be annoying in any form. It really helps that she is used sparingly.

As we learn more about Maou’s past, the more jarring the accusations against him and the war crimes he committed in Ente Isla seem. Can a guy like this do something that disgusting? If so, can he be reformed this easily after barely a year of living among the humans? Did he really do those things, or was it someone else who did and framed this perfectly innocent person? Was it the church again? No one would be surprised if it were, as they seem to be adept at committing awful deeds and getting away with it.

The new boss is working Maou and his friends to the bone, and the show seems to be hinting toward there being something more to this character than just this. Whatever it is, one thing is certain- even she can’t stop these guys from working their hardest to accomplish everything they have been tasked with. This was a nice episode for those who like to watch the slice-of-life elements in the show involving Maou working at his customer service job. There was a lot of good done in this episode.
Verdict
The Devil Is A Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 6 was a lovely little episode that set up a new confrontation for later in the series while also delivering on some quality slice-of-life moments.
