The Clearing Episode 2 Ending Explained: Hulu’s latest psychological thriller has created quite the stir with its dark subject matter as it brings to life a genuinely horrifying and real story. The show is created by Elise McCredie and Matt Cameron. Jeffrey Walker and Gracie Otto serve as the directors for the thriller.

It is based on In the Clearing by J. P. Pomare. The screenplay is adapted from the book by Elise McCredie, Matt Cameron and Osamah Sami. The main cast for the series includes Teresa Palmer, Miranda Otto, Guy Pearce and Julia Savage. It also features Hazem Shammas, Kate Mulvany, Xavier Samuel, Anna Lise Phillips, Mark Coles Smith, Harry Greenwood, Erroll Shand, Doris Younane, Claudia Karvan, Miah Madden, Gary Sweet, Alicia Gardiner, Matt Okine, Jeremy Blewitt, Lily La Torre, Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi, Berlin Lu and Kristof Kaczmarek.

There are a total of eight episodes with the first two episodes out now. The runtime of each episode is 40-60 minutes. The title of the first two episodes is ‘The Season of Unfoldment’ and ‘Kindred’.

The Clearing Episode 2 Ending Explained

It is carefully revealed to us by the end of the first episode of The Clearing that Amy is only the one who grows up to be Freya, her PTSD is the result of her past trauma that is haunting her in the present. We explore The Kindred and what they stand for and, how important a part Amy is of the cult.

Sara, a new girl who is kidnapped by The Kindred is under the responsibility of Amy and, it is through her that we get to understand a lot of the cult. However, Amy fails at certain times to help Sara fit in because, this kidnapping is basically forced adoption, right? This is where the Mother, the leader of the cult- Matriah has to step in.

She confronts Amy about her work and how she is going about it. Her shortcomings are put on the table, which forces Amy to say that Matriah is putting too much pressure on her. To this Matriah reveals that it is only because Amy is the heir of The Kindred, which means that after Matriah passes away, she is the one who is going to be responsible to run the cult.

Having said this, Matriah tries to cleanse Amy from her sins. For this, she gives Amy some drugs, which we know from the real-life story are LSDs that sends her down a trippy lane.
