The Beginning After the End Episode 9 Recap

The Beginning After the End Episode 10: Still

The episode begins with Arthur enjoying a peaceful time at home alongside Sylvie. He’s clearly at ease, relishing his return to a more relaxed pace of life. He later joins his mother and the Helstea family for a shopping trip, during which they surprise him with a makeover. It turns out the purpose behind this is a formal gallery event attended by nobles, and they want him to make a good impression.

While heading out, Arthur encounters a group of arrogant kids whose behaviour borders on bullying. He later learns that they are actually students from the prestigious Xyrus Academy. Along the way, he also discovers a shop selling beast cores, which are powerful items extracted from mana beasts. Seeing their sky-high prices shocks him, especially since he already possesses one.

Meanwhile, Lilia struggles with self-doubt, as she has yet to awaken her magic. She believes using a beast core could be a shortcut to unlock her potential, but her parents discourage this approach, not wanting her to rush the process. Overwhelmed with frustration, she lashes out, expressing resentment toward Arthur for getting the opportunity to attend the Academy while she remains behind.

Arthur, however, responds with empathy and wisdom. He helps her see her parents’ perspective and understand that their intentions come from love and concern.

This episode begins with Arthur visiting the auction house with his family and becoming absolutely shocked by the opulence. This is the place where aristocrats and adventurers want to visit and mingle with people. It is a great opportunity to buy valuable items, especially the beast cores.

This event is so prestigious that even the king, queen, and the royal prince and princesses also attend. However, a problem strikes when a conjurer who serves the king demands that Arthur drop Sylvie off with him.

Apparently, he has been looking for a mana beast, and now that he has got his sights on Sylvie, he wants her. He even tries to force Arthur into submission by using magic on him. However, Arthur remains unfazed. Later, when the conjurer tries to threaten Arthur with harm to his parents, he lets his killing intent out and even the king gets shocked.

When everyone gets to know about Arthur and the commotion, the king commands Arthur to give Sylvie to his conjurer. He even tries to trade his own mana beast, which he bought just a few moments back, with Arthur. However, when Arthur asks whether he would have sold his own kids like this, he again gets attacked by the conjurer and the king’s men for being uncooperative. Thankfully, Arthur’s inner power leaks out, and we again get to see Sylvia, who takes control of the situation and makes it clear to the conjurer that he will pay if he forces Arthur to give Sylvie up.

After that, Arthur faints and later wakes up to find that the king has formally issued an apology for the incident. However, this incident also opened Arthur’s eyes and made him understand how the world is not a forgiving place for a child.

The Beginning After the End Episode 10: Still

This episode, again, was decent at best, with rushed and lacking writing and lacklustre animation. But it does the job of depicting Arthur’s world in a moderately satisfying way.
