The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself is an upcoming Netflix series centred around the illegitimate son of a powerful witch, who struggles to find his own place in a bloodthirsty war. The fantasy drama is based on the trilogy Half Bad, written by Sally Green. Whereas, Andy Serkis(Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes) will serve as the executive producer of the series.
The cast of the series includes Jay Lycurgo, Nadia Parkes, Emilien Vekemans, Isobel Jesper Jones, Karen Connell, Paul Ready, David Gyasi, Kerry Fox, Fehinti Balogun, Misia Butler, Liz White and Roisin Murphy. Furthermore, the drama series is created by British screenwriter Joe Barton.

The official synopsis for the series reads, “Sixteen-year-old Nathan (Jay Lycurgo) is the illegitimate son of the world’s most dangerous witch. Fearing he will follow in his father’s footsteps, Nathan is closely monitored throughout his childhood. As the boundaries between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fray, Nathan – along with mischievous Annalise and charismatic Gabriel – will soon discover who he truly is.”
The two-minute thirty-five-second The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself trailer starts off with the introduction of Nathan, a young adult caught in the gory war of witches and devils due to his illegitimate past. In fact, the opening scene is enough to highlight the gruesome intensity of the upcoming show.

The scene then shifts to his journey of escaping the past and leading a normal life of peace(which doesn’t last long). Meanwhile, Nathan also has some friends in the form of Annalise and Gabriel, who help him to deal with the continuous catastrophe in his life. But the idea that he can run forever is a lie and one that Nathan has already accepted.
Finally, Nathan wants to put an end to the chaos and do the unthinkable. He decides to kill the notorious witch(his father) once and for all, and regain control of his normal life. Eventually, the fate of Nathan’s life depends on the success of this do-or-die mission.
While the series is being helmed by Joe Barton, the directors of the project will include Colm McCarthy, Debs Paterson and Rachna Suri. Furthermore, the music of the series will be composed by British Pop group singers Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollington.
