Ted Lasso Season 4 Finale Review on X: X Is Emotional, Divided and Not Ready to Say Goodbye

Ted Lasso Season 4 Finale Review on X: The Ted Lasso Season 4 finale has landed, and X is currently going through the full emotional buffet with tears, disbelief, and gratitude, while some even ask for a Season 5, and the grief that comes from realising a show you love might actually be saying goodbye.

Some viewers are calling the finale a return to everything they loved about the series in the first place. Others feel that while the episode has plenty of emotional rollercoasters, something about the ending does not quite land, and then there are also those who are simply staring at the screen wondering how they are supposed to move on from Richmond. Peak fandom!

Ted Lasso Season 4 Finale Review on X: X Is Calling It Peak Ted Lasso

For many viewers, the finale appears to have hit the exact emotional combination that made the series so beloved for all: humour, hope, sincerity and enough heartbreak to make you question everything.

X user @jeffconway summed up the enthusiastic reaction by calling the Season 4 finale a “true return to form that we all adored about this show from the very start”, further adding “RICKMOND TILL WE DIE!” to his post.

Another user, @Darthrandal92, had a similarly enthusiastic response, describing Episode 10 as “peak Ted Lasso: hilarious, heartfelt, painfully sincere, and somehow capable of making grown adults cry over a bunch of fictional footballers”. According to the reaction, the finale gives its characters doses of redemption, hope and emotional closure.

User @grossdog7328 went on to call the finale close to perfection for a TV season finale and said it may be their favourite of the show’s four season finales.

Not Everyone Thinks the Goodbye Completely Works

Everyone collectively giving out the same verdict is unlike the internet; thus, there were users who did not think that the finale worked so well.

User @nukejakarta had a conflicted reaction, saying the finale “felt like a goodbye” overall but did ot hit the mark for them. The reaction does not show an outright dislike, but the viewer seems to be feeling that something remains unresolved.

The reaction further added that they hoped that the loose threads are intentional and everything is resolved in Season 5, if there is any.

“No Season 5?” Is Already The Talk

According to user @Purplemonkey27, it was like going through all five stages of grief at once, writing, “You can’t see me shacking my head in disbelief. But it is time to move on, for other people.  All of the stages of grief all at once.” The reaction even explicitly asked, “No Season 5?”

The interesting thing about the reaction is that it captures the strange space the finale has created. The viewers are still wondering whether there is another season hiding somewhere.

@Flynn5200’s reaction was broadly more positive but specifically questioned how little attention the women’s team received in the finale.

For Some, This Was An Emotional Full Stop

There is also a camp of people who say that let this be the ending. User @zoulfrae managed to squeeze in the finale during lunch and took to X in full-caps emotional distress, writing, “it’s soooo good. It may be top 3 best episodes of the series ever in its 4 seasons so far.”

The enthusiasm is echoed by other reactions as well. For these viewers, the finale feels like a proper emotional full stop.

So, Did Ted Lasso Stick the Landing?

Based on the X reactions, the answer would be that for some viewers it does, but others have reservations. There is a strong wave of love for the finale; viewers are calling it emotional, heartfelt, hilarious, sincere and even close to perfect.

At the same time, there are viewers who feel the ending is a little underwhelming and unresolved. There is also a big elephant in the room: the question of “Season 5”.

Whether this is really the end of Ted Lasso or simply the end of this chapter is something that is yet to be known. Ted Lasso made people care, not just about wins and losses, not just about football, but about people who started as characters and have now become part of viewers’ emotional dictionary. Perhaps that is why X feels less like reviewing the finale and more like attending a farewell party nobody was actually prepared for.
