Ridley is a former police detective who now works as an emergency police dispatcher. Patrick Brammall leads the series as Ian Ridley. The actor might perhaps be known best for his role as Colin from Accounts, but Last Seen puts him in a dramatically emotional space. He is playing a man whose entire emotional personality has been shaped by unresolved grief.
Apple’s own description reads, “When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost.“

The series is based on the 2011 novel, The Dispatcher, by author Ryan David Jahn and is CWA John Creasey Dagger Award-winning.
The series adaptation has been set in Australia, with Ian Ridley replacing the novel’s Ian Hunt. The premise seems very Apple TV coded: high-concept but emotionally complicated enough to stretch beyond the initial mystery.
When Does Last Seen Premiere?
Last Seen is set to premiere on September 9, 2026, so you may mark your calendar. The series will appear globally on the same date with two episodes. The series will drop the remaining episodes, one per week, on Wednesdays, and this six-episode series will wind up on October 7.
