Summer Time Render Episode 24 Review- Or Is It?

Anime is a medium like no other. It is able to tell stories that might not be possible in any other medium in the world (except Manga, but that’s cheating). There are few things in this world as good as a great anime, or at least that’s what I’m assuming most of us here think. We are all massive fans, considering we have almost finished a show that nobody outside Japan has legal access to yet, and have come to love and appreciate it so much that the series has become an instant classic through sheer word-of-mouth. The best thing about that is that if any show has deserved this, it is this one.

This episode was a love letter to all of us who have come this far in this journey, for our patience was rewarded thousands of times over in this phenomenal outing. If you’ve been paying attention, you probably already knew where this one was going to end. However, it didn’t matter, because the predictable move is the right one to make sometimes. I would rather have a predictable ending than one which comes out of nowhere and makes no sense, any day of the week (still not over Wonder Egg Priority).

We ended the last episode as Shinpei and Ushio made one final stand against Shide and Hiruko, aided by Haine. It was your classic anime hero vs villain confrontation, made even sweeter by this being the culmination of the story. This confrontation genuinely felt like the end. The heavy and guarded atmosphere, alongside the stakes of Shinpei dying in the real world if he dies here and no time-based shenanigans meant this was the end. It was either sink or swim for Shinpei, Ushio, Haine, and Ryuunosuke.

Shide was also an extremely capable and dangerous villain, capable of not only inflicting serious harm but killing all of his enemies with very little effort. The show had to do a lot to make this battle an even one, but it did just that. It was a very righteous and standard anime stand-off, but it didn’t need to be anything other than that. Emotions were running high and options were running low, as the show was able to deliver a truly incredible experience and a great ending to this story. However, it’s not the end quite yet.

Yes, there is one episode still left, which makes a lot of sense considering the end of this one. A lot has come and gone, but a show about time-loops ending without them just doesn’t sit right. This wasn’t the finale, but it very easily could have been. Now there is one more episode left to wrap things up, but there is nothing to worry about. The show will nail it like it has done everything else since it began. The production in this episode was also insane, including some great battle animations and fresh artistic choices. Overall, this was a pretty perfect episode.
Verdict
Summer Time Render Episode 24 featured a tremendous conclusion to a thrilling arc and would have been a fantastic ending to the show if it was one. There is one more episode to go, and it is sure to be just as good.
