Study Group Episode 6 Review: Yun Ga-min to Leave Yusung Technical High School?!

Study Group Episode 6 brings troubles right at Ga-min’s doors as he finds himself on the verge of a transfer while the group tries to stop him. Meanwhile, things begin to get messier when his mother is attacked by Han-ul’s men who try to attack Han-gyeong.

The series has 10 episodes which will be released from 23 January 2025 to 20 February 2025.

Study Group Episode 6 Recap

The episode opens with Han-ul’s underling- Ma Min-hwan, who is known to accept secrets from people to help them exact revenge. However, he is also a cunning man who would later hand over these secrets to bullies, who would later make their lives even worse. While he has his fun in creating trouble everywhere, the worst is yet to come.

Elsewhere, Ga-min and Se-yeon arrive at the former’s house and while Se-yeon is worried about seeing his friend freak out, they rush inside. However, Ga-min comes to a stop when he finds his mother waiting for him downstairs. She tells him to get ready as he will soon be transferred out of Yusung Technical High School the very next day. Ga-min is shocked and is unable to say anything while Se-yeon doesn’t take her words seriously.

However, Ga-min later tells him to take care of the study group as his mother’s words cannot be taken lightly. She has always made sure to go through whatever she has decided and he is sure to be taken out of school the next day. As the two lie down to sleep, they begin talking and Se-yeon asks him why would he study so hard when his mother doesn’t even care about his grades. As Ga-min thinks about his childhood surrounded by cameras flashing while he holds his test paper with bad grades, he tells him that not caring hurts him more. Se-yeon looks back at his own father who doesn’t care about his grades and finds himself resonating with Ga-min.

Ga-min tells him that he’s sad about leaving the study group but he doesn’t regret coming back to save him, and soon falls asleep. The next day, the study group members are standing outside the principal’s office seeing Ga-min inside with his mother- Jeon Mi-hyeon. While they are sure that she wouldn’t be able to transfer Ga-min to any other school in the region, they are surprised when she calls her realtor and is ready to move to Seoul.

Unable to think of anything else, they call Han-gyeong who is now on the way to school while thinking of ways to stall Mi-hyeon from leaving school. But everything fails and she drives away with Ga-min. Han-gyeong arrives soon after and while she knows about Mi-hyeon’s personality, she too is not ready to give up and drives with the group members behind Ga-min.

However, they are stopped midway by Kang Tae-oh who was knocked out by Ga-min when he jumped from the window. As he tries to stop them from stopping Mi-hyeon, Lee Jun and Ji-u get down to fight them off and open up the way. Finally, Lee Jun tells Ji-u to go back with the others while he stops Tae-oh. Han-gyeong puts her faith in him and drives off while Lee Jun is ready to show off the moves he learnt from Ga-min in the fight; only, he doesn’t exactly get it right.

Meanwhile, Ga-min and Mi-hyeon are at the realtor’s office when the members burst inside the office and try to stop Mi-hyeon. Han-gyeong follows soon after and Mi-hyeon recognises her. The group moves to a nearby cafe where they sit down to talk. Han-gyeong tries to stop Mi-hyeon but she has already made up her mind to give Ga-min a better environment. Unable to say anything, Han-gyeong resorts to bringing back the memory of her teacher and Mi-hyeon’s friend O Jeong-hwa’s funeral when Mi-hyeon told her to become a teacher Jeong-hwa wished to see her.

She questions Mi-hyeon about her fears of sending Ga-min to this school when she herself took away her fears from that time. This makes Mi-hyeon think, but before she can give her answer to Han-gyeong, a group of delinquents enter the cafe and empty it. They are here for Han-gyeong after she filed a petition to have the disciplinary committee meeting be held against Han-ul. When the news reached Han-ul, he sent Ma Min-hwan to take care of her.

Now, Min-hwan is here with a group to “teach” her a lesson but is shocked when it is Mi-hyeon who stops them before anyone else. Soon, a fight breaks out while we hear Ga-min introducing the study group members to his mother in the background. Seeing the chaos, Han-hyeong tries to call Detective Na when Min-hwan shoots a bullet to stop everyone. He once again shoots another bullet but this time, Ga-min tries to stop him while Mi-hyeon rushes to save Han-gyeong.

Unfortunately, the glass shatters behind Han-gyeong due to the bullet and hits Mi-hyeon in the process. Everything is still at this moment as Mi-hyeon is rushed to the hospital soon after. Ga-min is stunned to see his mother like this. At the hospital, Geon-yeop tells him about Han-ul’s involvement in all this.

The next day, Ga-min rushes to the terrace where Han-ul is in the morning and moves to hit him but is stopped by the Three Cheols of Yunsung who guard him. While Geon-yeop had already warned him about the three, he doesn’t stop and fights back. Han-ul doesn’t take Ga-min seriously and leaves the terrace while the three are left to take care of Ga-min.

A fight soon breaks out and while Ga-min loses due to his agitated state, he soon calms down and once again fights. This time, he is able to take them down after which he rushes to the auditorium where everyone is asked to come. There, he spots Han-ul and without a moment’s delay, he rushes to land a punch on him in front of everyone.

Study Group Episode 6 Review

This episode was not only marvellous due to the action scenes but also because of how the plot plays out. Seeing Ga-min’s mother showing her badass moves was definitely worth the week-long wait because we can finally see how she is able to control Ga-min and his sheer strength. Jokes aside, we know that Mi-hyeon is definitely going into our list of badass mothers after her smooth hits in this episode and we are loving it.

Meanwhile, we can also see the love and respect Ga-min holds for his mother, which is simply heartwarming. He is truly a character who stands out among many others, and we cannot stop loving him more and more. On the other hand, the punch he delivers on Han-ul’s face is the perfect end to this episode and also the perfect start to the second half of the show.

We know that there’s a lot more to come soon after this, so this week-long wait is surely going to be a pain as our eagerness continues to jump around. Altogether, this was yet another wonderful episode with amazing performances by the cast and I am loving this show to the fullest.
