Jungkook has just been awarded the Standing Next to You 1st win at Mnet’s Thursday music show program M Countdown. The BTS maknae has long been breaking records following (and even before) the release of his debut solo album Golden. On November 7, he set a new Guinness World Record with his pre-released track, Seven, from the same album for being the fastest song to reach 1 billion plays on Spotify, and, just two days later, on November 9, he’s got to taste yet another sweet victory, with all credits to the focus track of the album.
His song, Standing Next to You, was pit against LE SERRAFIM’s Perfect Night, as both HYBE Labels’ artists combatted for the top spot for the week’s song champion. The BTS member ended up scoring a total of 9622 points, whereas LE SSERAFIM came in second with 5614 points. The Jungkook Standing Next to You music video was released on November 3, 2023, along with the artist’s first full album, Golden. On the other hand, the LE SSERAFIM Perfect Night video was released on October 27, 2023.
The November 9 broadcast of M Coundown served as 822nd episode of the series, and it featured a long list of captivating performances as follows – SEVENTEEN’s God of Music, SHINee Taemin’s Guilty, GOT7 Youngjae’s Do It, RIIZE’s Talk Saxy, ZEROBASEONE’s Melting Point and Crush. And that’s not the end of it, VIVIZ came out with their presentation of Maniac, Weeekly performed Vroom Vroom, CRAVITY’s Megaphone, LIGHTSUM’s Honey or Spice, OMEGA X’s Junk Food, NiziU’s Heartris, GOLDEN CHILD’s Feel Me, KISS OF LIFE’s Bad News, and JUJU SECRET’s Alone also made for some special comeback stages. As of September 2023, the show is being hosted by ZEROBASEONE’s Sung Hanbin and (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon.
Moreover, adding to the glimmering list of Jungkook music show wins, his Standing Next to You first place trophy at M Countdown comes after his three consecutive first place wins for the song 3D, yet again on Mnet’s M Countdown in October 2023. He’s also won the same trophy thrice for the track, Seven, which in addition to winning at M Countdown has also bagged accolades at SBS’ Inkigayo, MBC Music Core and MBC M’s Show Champion, bringing the total count of Seven domestic music show wins trophies to 12.
