Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 2 Preview
The episode opens on a seemingly ordinary note, with Jinwoo attending his sister Jinah’s school for a parent-teacher meeting. Jinah, noticing the significant physical transformation in her brother, can’t help but wonder what might have caused such a change.
Now in a position to grasp the true perils of dungeon hunting, Jinwoo is determined to protect his sister from those dangers. This protective streak is evident when Jinah’s teacher asks him to speak with her friend Songyi, hoping he can dissuade her from pursuing a career in dungeon hunting. Jinwoo thus willingly accompanies Songyi into what appears to be a harmless and low-ranking dungeon to teach her the harsh realities of being a hunter.

However, the C-rank dungeon unexpectedly morphs into a deadly red dungeon, which has a treacherous environment that only elite hunters typically survive.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 2 Review and Recap

This episode was more hype than the last one, and we also got very important information about the whole scenario Jinwoo is in right now. First of all, he gets his hands on the bears that he fought, and now Jinwoo successfully includes them in his shadow army. Somewhere else, Kim, who willingly abandoned his teammates, distraught over his situation, finds the hunters with Jinwoo and targets them. Thankfully, Jinwoo comes right at that moment and gives us one of the best fights of this anime. But it did not happen between Kim and Jinwoo, but rather, between the entire army of ice elves with Jinwoo and his shadow army.

In the beginning, I thought that Jinwoo must be strong enough now to take on the army of ice elves. He was stronger than them but not more than their boss, Baruka. He is definitely a very interesting character who has proved to be the strongest opponent Jinwoo has ever faced yet. With their interaction, we get some substantial points. Jinwoo can now apparently understand the language of ice elves, and he might not be a human anymore. This theory is proved when Baruka claims that all the inhabitants of the dungeon hear a voice in their heads that instructs them to kill all humans, which he did not get when he faced Jinwoo.

Interestingly, when Jinwoo asks why they target humans, he cannot get a proper answer as the system glitched at that moment. Now, what this could mean? Is the dungeon really in a videogame-like world that is controlled by a superior power, and that power is the one that decides what will happen and what will not? If that is the case, and it wants the destruction of humans, why is it giving Jinwoo so many hacks so that he can rise at an inexplicable rate? What is the main goal of this system?

However, we must keep in mind that it’s not like Jinwoo is not losing anything. We all know that he is far from a normal human being, and it is his humanity that is slowly ebbing away the stronger he becomes. The guilt of killing others for the sake of survival is something that should leave a deep effect on him, even if he doesn’t show it directly.
Verdict

Today’s episode was great and proved why Jinwoo is never going to lose. The plot armour is very strong with him, and there is no way he will take an L anytime soon. Plus, the aura that he carries right now almost makes us question whether he’s the same guy who was cowering in fear in the very first episode of the series. However, he will need his toughened attitude as his enemies are not just within the dungeon but also outside.
