Previously, we felt the series had lost control, given that the main leads’ conflicts were going overboard and their trauma storyline was getting boring. In this episode, things are even messier as a love triangle has arrived and the twists aren’t nice, but it is only making the drama messier. Surprisingly, though, the episode remains strangely entertaining. But it doesn’t make sense.
Dream to You Episode 8 has a runtime of 70 minutes. The series (그대에게 드림) stars Hwang In-yeop, Hyeri, Baek Sung-chul, Lee Yul-eum, Lee Sang-yeob, and Lee Ji-min, and is directed by Yoo Sun-dong.

The Story Keeps Getting Messier
This episode is all over the place. Instead of narrowing the series into one single plot and focus, new complications are formed. We have new romance entering, unnecessary family secrets, career politics, trauma, etc. All these felt too stuffed inside one episode.
These overlapping storylines don’t really reach any point. It feels half-baked and rushed. Not a single emotional moment felt relatable or allowed the viewers to immerse themselves in it. We’re constantly jumping between characters and conflicts after conflicts.

A Shocking Family Revelation
The connection between Ha-na and Soo-bin’s family might only be the unique one to look at. Their family connection wasn’t predicted, and it is a twist. It also changes the dynamics between the relationships. However, since it was dropped all of a sudden, it didn’t have a proper buildup or didn’t feel naturally injected into our minds.
Rather, we just have a whole new twist which felt rushed and underdeveloped. It adds another reason for viewers to despise Soo-bin’s father, who is simply the series’ villain and again is an undeveloped character.
The Romance Still Delivers
At this point, romance is what’s saving the series. Yi-jae and Soo-bin’s romance and emotional chemistry keep the show alive. Though the writing isn’t helping the characters feel justified, somehow the actors Hwang In-yeop and Hyeri make it watchable.
But we have this stupid twist that makes the episode feel stuffed. An unnecessary love triangle. Initially, we thought Yu-geon might be the second lead who would desire Yi-jae, but now we have a whole new character: Yi-jae’s ex. I am absolutely done with this jealousy trope because who even cares now?
Yu-geon and Ha-na For the Win
If one relationship consistently steals attention, it’s Yu-geon and Ha-na. Honestly, their storyline really feels satisfying. Yes, we have a great kiss scene between Soo-bin and Yi-jae that makes the series feel satisfying, but their connection isn’t written well. Whereas Yu-geon and Ha-na’s relationship is definitely the one every viewer is vouching for.
Fun fact: the third couple also remains entertaining whenever they appear, although they have limited screen time. Main lead romance is fine, but the supporting characters’ romance is top tier.
Final Verdict
The series has failed a lot of viewers, but a lot of fans are sticking only for the cast. The story started really entertaining as we thought we’d dive into the world of cinema through the lens of Soo-bin and Yi-jae. However, we are constantly focusing on unsolved traumas, family dramas, unnecessary new characters, conflicts and whatnot.
Instead of focusing on one storyline, the episode feels heavily stuffed with subplots that don’t allow the viewer to catch up. Everything feels half-baked and underdeveloped. This makes the series feel very desperate to just finish a story that they failed to properly write.
Fortunately, a talented cast, strong romantic chemistry, and polished production values continue to keep everything watchable. Good for them. Apart from this, the series is chaotic, and we couldn’t abandon it because of the great cast.
