Bollywood actor and superstar Shah Rukh Khan inaugurated the 28th edition of the Kolkata International film festival, which is scheduled to last over a week. The festival will honour the best in national and international cinema and will be presided over by celebrities and politicians, along with the jury members.
During the opening ceremony, the notable actor spoke about the feeling of gratitude he has for being part of the festival, and for the reputed jury. Moreover, the actor also opened up about a series of topics, including the negative effects of social media.
Notably, the actor also greeted the megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Sourav Ganguly, who were present on the stage. And also relayed his good wishes to the chief minister of Bengal, Mamta Banerjee. The actor went further and praised the hospitality of Kolkata, which will be at the forefront of the festival.
The opening ceremony of the film festival was also attended by director Mahesh Bhatt, actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, and playback singer Arijit Singh. Morever, the latter also dedicated a special song for SRK, during his award acceptance speech. Shah Rukh Khan was also awarded his 300th accolade in the film festival, marking a momentous occasion for the actor.
The popular actor will be leading the next Yash Raj film Pathaan (a patriotic spy), along with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, playing vital roles in the movie. The film will also mark his leading return to the big screen, after Anand L Rai’s Zero. Before that, he was seen in several cameo appearances, in flicks like Laal Singh Chaddha and Brahamastra.

The festival is scheduled to take place from 15th December to 22nd December 2022. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming feature Pathaan is scheduled to release on 25th January 2022.
