7 Captivating Royal Movies and Series to Watch on Netflix: The Crown, Kingdom and More

Since the demise of Queen Elizabeth, many royal movies and series have started to gain popularity, as many directly cover the reign of the Queen and some dark secrets of the Royal Family. Apart from that, there are wonderful royal-themed movies from around the world that not only present a dynasty’s aspects but also some good fictional plots. To get you started, here is a list of the top Royal movies available on Netflix for you to stream.

Top 7 Royal Movies and Series to Stream on Netflix

Kingdom (2019)

Starting off with a Korean drama, Kingdom is a great example to show that not all royal-themed series need to be romantic or British. With a zombie apocalypse out on the streets, watch how the prince of the Sangju fights off the zombies and faces a difficult trial. Be prepared for some gory scenes. Hey, but you’ll love the royal traditions and aspects that are portrayed though. Additionally, various notable actors are a part of this series, hence, you will definitely love the final bloody output with some great acting. Catch the series on Netflix.

The Crown (2016-Present)

The Crown is literally the talk of the royal town, as the series precisely covers the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The Crown has been trending on Netflix since its release, with original stories hooked in with some spices. There are currently five seasons available, and it has been confirmed that season 6 has begun production. Until the sixth season comes, dive in to watch the first five seasons over here.

The Royal Treatment (2022)

I’ve been staring at Mena Massoud’s smile since he first appeared on screen as Aladdin. His beautiful smile stole my breath away, and if it’s the same for you, here’s another happy ending movie with Mena as the charming prince. The Royal Treatment is a story about how a hairdresser gets an offer to style the prince for his forced wedding. Now, this is where the sparks fly—who knows what will happen next? Find out yourself by watching it on Netflix.

Young Royals (2021-Present)

Who would have guessed that a series in which the prince of a royal family comes out as gay, falls in love with a man, and ends up with his name on the front page of the newspaper? The plot is pretty dope, isn’t it? As a huge fan of LGBT+ films and television shows, Young Royals captivated me because of the way it blended royalty and LGBT+ culture. The third season of Young Royals is about to be released soon, so watch on Netflix the first two seasons to catch up quickly.

Harry and Meghan (2022)

This is not a royal-themed series, but rather a royal documentary series in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex open up about their difficulties while performing royal duties. With the couple’s shocking revelations and news, Harry and Meghan is the most anticipated and contentious documentary of 2022. It is available on Netflix and it comprises only 6 episodes, each around an hour long.

The Princess Switch (2018)

It is not unjust for a princess to be given a break, especially when she is constantly surrounded by officials who plan her life. Thankfully, our princess gets an opportunity to switch her life with a baker who looks exactly like her. Both the ladies are happy with their sudden exchange, but problems start to arise as soon as they try to fit in. What will they realize at the end? Know it yourself by watching it here.

Blood, Sex and Royalty (2022)

Blood, Sex, and Royalty is a three-part docuseries about British royalty and their desire for sex, empire and blood. This amusing yet eye-opening documentary is a great way to pass the time while also having a good laugh. Hopefully, there will be more episodes coming out, because, damn, I loved it and I want more. Anyhow, you can stream it on Netflix.
