Bollywood Megastar and acting icon Shah Rukh Khan has been felicitated with the 300th award, at the 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival. Notably, the highly acclaimed annual ceremony is regarded as one of the most prestigious events of the year and honours the best in the field of cinema.
The week-long ceremony was inaugurated by the vintage star Amitabh Bachchan, along with the likes of Jaya Bachchan, singer Arijit Singh, Rani Mukherjee and cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Moreover, the Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamta Banerjee, was also present on the opening day of the film festival.
The list of attendees also included Shatrughan Sinha, Kumar Sanu and Hindi film director, Mahesh Bhatt. Furthermore, the films that are officially competing in the International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images category, include The Golden Wings Of Watercocks, Silent Glory, The Lord Of Creations, The Warm Blues, The Deadman’s Bride, First Snow, The Wedding Parade and many more.
King khan of Bollywood was seen reciting dialogue from his upcoming movie Pathaan, along with a gentle nod to his grateful career in the Hindi film industry. Moreover, playback singer Arijit Singh also paid a tribute to Shah Rukh Khan, through his soulful rendition of Gerua, from Dilwale.
The megastar was last seen in Ayan Mukherjee’s epic Brahamastra, in the role of an ambitious scientist. The film grossed more than 400 crores on the box officer worldwide and was also renewed for a full-fledged trilogy. Although, Khan had a cameo in the mythological film, fans of the movie strongly resonated with the character.
SRK’s upcoming action flick Pathaan, tells the story of an Indian Spy, who goes against all odds to safeguard the interest of his country. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand (War, Bang Bang), and produced under the banner of Yash Raj films. Morever, the star cast of the movie also includes Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in prominent roles.
