See You in My 19th Life: All About Shin Hye-sun’s Upcoming Fantasy K-Drama

Nowadays, K-Dramas adapted from the webtoon series are all the rage, as they accurately depict the story, without taking away the essence. Such is one story of See You in My 19th Life, which has been adapted from the webtoon by Lee Hey. As strange as the title may sound, the story is as direct as well.

Titled (이번 생도 잘 부탁해) in Korean, which literally translates to ‘please take care of me, in this life too’. It is an upcoming fantasy romance drama which is directed by Lee Na-jung and the screenplay is adapted by Choi Young-lim. It is set to take the weekend drama slot on tvN and with actress Shin Hye-sun in the lead, who is popularly known for her role in the drama Mr Queen, the expectations are really high.

The ensemble cast of the series includes Shin Hye-sun as Ban Ji-eum / Yoon Joo-won, Ahn Bo-hyun as Moon Seo-ha, Ha Yoon-kyung as Yoon Cho-won, Ahn Dong-goo as Ha Do-yoon, Ryu Hae-joon as Lee Ji-seok, Lee Chae-min as Kang Min-ki, Choi Jin-ho as Moon Jeong-hun, Park So-yi as young Ban Ji-eum, Kim Si-a as young Yoon Joo-won and others.

See You in My 19th Life Plot/Synopsis

The drama follows the story of Ban Ji-eum, an extraordinary person who can remember all the past lives, she has lived so far. Having been reincarnated for about a thousand years, she seems to slowly lose interest in human life, as the memories of her past lives come back to her, once she reaches a certain age.

However, her 18th life ends in a tragic accident, at a young age when she was just trying to find some joy in keep on living like this. Therefore, when she gets her memories back in the 19th life, Ji-eum makes it her mission to meet and get acquainted with the people that she left behind. With a new identity, she does find her way back to the one she loved, but will she be able to make the same space for herself, as her last identity?

In the released motion picture, the actress is seen standing in front of a carousel which holds great significance to her 18th life, since the amusement park was the last place she was heading to. The carousel however is situated in an isolated place with water spilled in front of it, where we see the reflection of all the lives that the protagonist lived.

Along with Shin Hye-sun, the popular actor from Itaewon Class, Ahn Bo-hyun, will be playing the role of the male protagonist. While Ha Yoon-kyung, who is known for her roles in Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Hospital Playlist will be taking the second lead role, as Hye-sun’s sister in the past.

See You in My 19th Life Release Date

The fantasy romance K-Drama is set to be released in June 2023 on tvN every Saturday and Sunday at 09:20 PM KST and might even be available for streaming on Netflix in selected regions.
