Sakamoto Days Episode 4 Recap

With Tatsu’s capture, the Sakamoto family was supposed to be safe. However, that assumption was quickly shattered as even more formidable adversaries emerged in this episode. When Tatsu found himself cornered, he wasted no time revealing crucial information about Dondenkai, a ruthless organization that had assigned him the mission to eliminate Sakamoto. Despite having numerous assassins under its umbrella, Dondenkai enforces strict solo operations, making it an incredibly cutthroat group.

This episode also sheds light on the existence of an official governing body for assassins, the Japanese Association of Assassins, which issues licenses to those seeking to turn contract killing into a legitimate profession. In other words, if one wants to make a living in this deadly line of work, a killing license is a must.

One of the biggest revelations is also the possibility that Sakamoto was once affiliated with an enigmatic group known as The Order. When confronted, he neither confirms nor denies the claim, hinting that there’s much more to uncover about his past. Meanwhile, the two assassins targeting Sakamoto’s family are unlike any enemies he has faced before.

Among them is Boiled, whose interactions with Sakamoto suggest a shared history. While Boiled considers them former friends turned rivals, the truth is far more amusing, as Sakamoto never really acknowledged their friendship in the first place.

This episode was another very entertaining watch as things start from the part when we see Obiguro fighting with Lu. At first, Obiguro was clearly winning, but soon Lu lands some pretty hard-hitting blows on her. But when the time comes when Lu can kill her enemy, she refuses to do that. This is because her new family is against killing anyone.

You might be confused and think she is talking about her parents, but that is not the case. She is actually talking about the Sakamoto family, and this really was a heartwarming thing for her to say. This shows just how both Shin and Lu have become an integral part of the Sakamoto family. I would say this is especially sweet because Shin most likely grew up alone, and Lu is technically an orphan now.

But things also heat up between Sakamoto and Boiled. Previously, Sakamoto was the one who was getting thrashed, but this time, things were different. Sakamoto was a lot faster and could easily handle Boiled’s bombs better. However, just when you think that Sakamoto’s biggest danger is other killers, you realize that his wife is actually the scariest one. This factor gets proven when she finds out about the bounty placed on his head, and we see him scared shitless.

There were lots of funny bits in this episode, but it also came with plenty of information. We finally see who the members of The Order are and learn their original duties. Interestingly, Nagumo is still a member there, along with some very interesting characters, whom we will witness later. Apart from them, there is another mysterious man who might be the original antagonist of this anime, but he is still shrouded in mystery.

Today’s episode was pretty humour-heavy and very entertaining. Now that Sakamoto’s wife knows about everything, Sakamoto can be a bit more forward in his fights. It was good to see that she just hates Sakamoto killing someone, but other than that, she is pretty fine with violence. The action was, as usual, pretty good, and the animation was average.
