Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 1 shows us enough to get us hooked on this new journey. The animation is pristine and clean as usual, so I only have high hopes this time. Let’s see how this episode unfolded.

This episode begins right from where Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Season 3 ended. Here, Subaru talks about everyone forgetting about Julius because his name has been stolen. He then explains to others that he is a victim of Gluttony. However, there is one exception, while the other victims were forgotten by not only everyone but also by themselves, Julius actually remembers himself. Hence, he is an anomaly.

But, he is not the only one who has suffered because of Lust and Gluttony. There are many more within the city, and to help them out, there is one person that Emilia and Subaru must seek out. Lady Anastasia reveals that they must seek out Shaula the sage. Thus, Emilia and Subaru embark on a journey to find this person, whom they consider extremely difficult to reach. The beginning of this episode is hopeful because they realise that there is a way to help the victims.

However, in the middle, we get the shock of a lifetime when we meet the infamous Echidna again. This time, she is very different, and the situation surrounding her is as confusing for Subaru as it is for us. Towards the end, the characters become a lot more emotional as they themselves understand and learn the dangers of this new journey that Subaru wants to go on. He also makes a promise to Rem that he will get her back. It was nice to see her after so many episodes.

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 1 Review

This episode was definitely a good one, considering it is just the beginning. It did not have any mind-bending twists apart from the introduction of Echidna. However, the stakes are certainly very high in this season. Apparently, Subaru will be in danger, but if he succeeds in his mission, we might be able to see Rem wake up again.
