Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 1 Recap

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 2 Review A Gory Goodness

The episode kicks off with a prestigious visitor, Joshua, who arrives to invite Emilia on behalf of Lady Anastasia. It turns out the mana crystal Emilia needs to summon a great spirit is in the possession of a merchant. However, to retrieve it, she must journey to Pristella, a breathtaking yet isolated water-bound city that feels both like a paradise and a trap.

Here, Subaru and Emilia are set to face many thrilling adventures, uncovering secrets and exploring new possibilities. It’s clear that the upcoming episodes will be intense, especially for Subaru. There’s a strong chance he’ll finally be able to exact his revenge on the Archbishop of Gluttony for what happened to Rem. We might even see the beloved maid awaken from her deep coma.

Beyond that, the story also delves into the lives of other characters, shedding light on their struggles, such as the complicated dynamics within the Astrea family, and Reinhard’s lineage. Meanwhile, the Royal Selection candidates are each vying to prove their worth, adding even more layers to the narrative.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 2 Review A Gory Goodness

Yes, we get only 20 minutes for this episode, but in those times, you will feel like you have seen a lot. This episode starts right from the part where Subaru travels back in time after dying horribly at the hands of the Sin Archbishop representing Wrath, Sirius. Subaru takes a moment to compose himself and assures Emilia and others nothing is wrong. He knows if he involves Emilia, she will again be hunted like she was when he had to face Petelguese.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 2 Review A Gory Goodness

Thus, at first, Subaru tries to free the boy himself before Sirius, the Sin Archbishop, returns. However, this plan obviously does not go accordingly, and Subaru also meets a gruesome and absolutely brutal end. This part was especially gory and it reminds us just how unforgiving this anime can be towards its protagonist. Subaru returns to life and tries to understand and assess the situation which will ultimately help him decide what to do about the whole scenario.

Whom should he approach who can easily defeat the Archbishop but at the same time will not be affected by her brainwashing? And obviously, after many trials, Subaru finally settles on a person who changes the course of battle entirely.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 2 Review A Gory Goodness

This episode was very interesting as it showcased some important connections between the Archbishop of Wrath and Emilia. Sirius, in the beginning, seemed insane but polite and almost amicable. But the moment she encounters Emilia, she loses all her composure and showers Emilia with some of the nastiest curses. Emilia remains unfazed but also fails to understand what she has particularly done to this woman.

The conclusion is definitely surprising and leaves you excited for the next episode. Subaru finds himself in another huge mess, and we still do not know how he will recover from that.

Verdict

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 2 Review A Gory Goodness

I loved this episode as it keeps you on the edge of your seat with all the terrible and fascinating things happening on screen. The best part of this series is how unpredictable the situation can get within a second. One moment the characters are laughing and joking around, while on the other, their heads are flying off.
