What’s Releasing on Amazon Prime Video in September 2023

SEPTEMBER 1

The Wheel of Time Season 2

The Season 2 premiere of the fantasy series, based on the book of the same name by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, will launch the first three episodes of the new chapter on the first day of September. The new saga will kick off with the first episode titled “A Taste of Solitude”, and will see the return of Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred. Ceara Coveney, Meera Syal, Natasha O’Keeffe, Guy Roberts, Arnas Fedaravicius, Gregg Chilingirian and Ayoola Smart will also join Pike in this “bigger, bolder and a more expansive” new season.

Moreover, new cold-blooded villains will be introduced this season. Since the first season covered the first book The Eye of the World, the second is likely to pick up the plot of the second one titled The Great Hunt. Those who love fantasy plots revolving around prophecies regarding the end of the world may find a liking for this acclaimed Prime Video original series.

The Killing Vote Kdrama Episode 6 (국민사형투표)

Based on National Death Penalty Vote by Uhm Se-yoon and Jung Yi-pum, the Korean crime drama series stars Park Hae-jin, Lim Ji-yeon, Park Sung-woong and others. The show revolves around Gaetal, an unknown vigilante with a dog mask on, who’s got his own way of serving justice and punishing heinous criminals. Holding polls called “The Killing Vote”, he deals out his final word on whether the criminal deserves a death sentence or not, and then executes the deed based on the results of these polls.

SEPTEMBER 8

Sitting in Bars With Cake

Inspired by true events, this upcoming Amazon Studios movie explores best friends Jane and Corinne’s life in LA during their 20s. While Corinne is an extroverted ‘life of the party’ sort of person, Jane is more of a shy girl, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s a crazy talented home baker.

The former gets her best friend to agree to baking cakes and bringing them to bars, as a means to grow their social circle – calling it “cakebarring”. Directed by Trish Sie, and starring Yara Shahidi, Odessa A’zion in the lead roles, the movie then switches gears when Corinne’s life is turned upside down by a life-altering diagnosis, making way for a challenge unlike another. The theme of female friendship is bound to make the viewers’ hearts soar with emotions.

The Boys Spinoff Gen V

Expanding The Boys universe by moving to the younger side of the diabolical world at Godolkin University, the upcoming spinoff series will focus at a superhero-only college setup where the youth is trained to become the next generation of heroes, ones whose identities can be capitalised of course. In this twisted coming-of-age scenario, the students will face off against the usual popularity rigmarole along with their respective explosive arcs. To make matters worse, a deeper, darker sinister secret running through the university will test their consciences, finally making them out to be heroes or villains.

Along with Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi leading the show’s star cast, we will also witness guest appearances from The Boys actors Jessie T Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and PJ Byrne.
