Queen of Tears Episode 14 Recap

The episode begins with a flashback to their honeymoon days. They walk around a cemetery and share their thoughts on death. Hyun-woo tells her that he will not be the person who will put flowers on his late wife’s grave but rather will leave the planet a day after her.

We go back to where we left off – Hae-in finds out about the side effect and walks away from him. Eun-sung makes his way to the airport when Sol-hee stops him and tries to convince him. He backlashes and walks away from her to go to Germany.

Hae-in finds Hyun-woo praying in a church and tells him not to pray for her because she has already made her decision. Sad over her stubbornness, he keeps quiet. They go to the lavender field and talk of their past days. She tries to make him understand that she needs those memories but all he cares about is keeping her alive. Back at Yeongdu-ri, Sol-hee meets Da-hye and Geon-u. She immediately threatens her to go back or she will take a drastic step. Da-hye does not back down and right then, Hae-in’s mother comes in between them and takes them away.

The family video calls her to try to convince her for the surgery. They try many tactics but feel like she does not agree with them. They continue to talk by themselves after assuming they cut the call and Hae-in hears them crying for her – making her feel sad at the state her loved ones are in.

In Germany, they visit the doctor and he advises Hyun-woo to begin the prep as soon as possible. He goes to tell her but she is nowhere to be found. He runs everywhere but can’t find her. Later, he goes to the church, sees her written prayer and sees her crying by herself. They share a heartbreaking moment as one tries to convince the other to see their side.

They go back to the hotel restaurant and Hyun-woo decides to get under her skin by bringing the green monster out. With his rolled cuffs, espresso and newspaper, he looks like a dream, which the other women notice – making Hae-in unbelievably jealous. She keeps fighting with him to act like himself but he continues his antics. Eun-sung walks in at that moment and sees them in love – causing him to be jealous instead.

Hyun-woo gets a call from his friend who tells him that the broker was found dead – causing Hyun-woo to worry. Grace Goh, on the other hand, grapples with herself when she learns Sol-hee is planning to get rid of Hae-in and anyone else in her way. She calls Hyun-woo but leaves a mysterious message – causing Hyun-woo to panic.

He runs out of the grocery store to see if Hae-in is safe. Instead, he sees the car crash and catches on fire. Adrenaline and worry running in his veins, he tunes out the world as he tries to save Hae-in. He breaks the car glass and at that moment, Hae-in calls his name. It seems as though she left the car just in time to get the clover leaf. Hyun-woo cannot believe his eyes and cries in her arms. Relieved to see her, he struggles to gather his emotions.

At the hospital, he gets his hand taped up. Seeing Hyun-woo in a distraught state, she decides to go ahead with the surgery. Hearing that, Hyun-woo tears up and hugs her. He apologises to her for making such a decision but promises to be by her side.

Soo-cheol, Da-hye and Geon-u visit an amusement park and spend quality time together. The entire time, Da-hye thinks of Sol-hee and her ex’s threat. Later, she tries to leave Soo-cheol but the latter does not accept it. He runs around, trying to find her and eventually uses the announcement system to call her back. They meet and share an emotional hug.

The family in South Korea wait for the news and look worried for their child. At the hospital, the couple spend some time together and talk their hearts out. Hyun-woo waits outside the operating room and breaks down. At that time, the police come to take him for the broker’s murder and see Eun-sung in front of him. He fights but to no avail, he is thrown into a holding cell. Eun-sung takes his place and Hae-in sees him first when she wakes up.

As it turns out, she loses all her memories and Eun-sung introduces himself. He talks about Hyun-woo as though she divorced him over his problematic behaviour and he is currently in jail for it. They see the first snow and Hyun-woo cries for her. Hae-in sees her balsam-stained nail and feels emotions but does not understand herself.

Queen of Tears Episode 14 Review

The episode was a rollercoaster of emotions. From their angsty interactions to the way they express their love – we enjoyed every bit! Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won are exceptional actors which they prove through every episode. The church scene made us tear up and root for them as they realised just how much they love each other.

Soo-cheol and Da-hye’s scene is yet another part of the episode that took us by surprise. They were amazing as they enjoyed their time as a family but Da-hye was grappled with the issues. We hope to see more of them in the last two episodes!

Park Sung-hoon is really made to play negative characters as his runtime in this episode was minuscule but he takes over the space with his expressions alone. The obsession, anger and sinister dialogues were gold. He got us hating him by the end of the episode.
