Purushu Pretham Recap

When a dead body washes up in a river, Inspector Sebastian of the Chelanallur police station is least bothered, surrounded by his personal problems. However, when the body’s alleged wife shows up and the body disappears, things take a rather interesting turn for both of them. Now embroiled in a cat-and-mouse chase, Sebastian is desperate to get to the bottom while trusting his gut.

Purushu Pretham Ending Explained

In the last few minutes of the movie, it becomes clear that the dead body isn’t Susanna’s husband. Armed with new evidence, Sebastian goes to confront her, and Susanna finally tells him that she knew that it wasn’t her husband, but she had to concoct this plan in order to get away from Bobby – he was abusive, and there was no other way to get out.

Just as Sebastian, annoyed with this entire ordeal, is about to leave and keep everything behind him, Susanna’s brother Aby, who hasn’t had a single thing to say till then, ends up hitting him over the head, thanks to a miscommunication. Desperate to get rid of him and go back to America, Aby and Susanna throw him down the well.

It is then revealed that Sebastian is narrating this story to his colleagues. He’s at home and is badly injured, but he survived everything. He tells them that he got out of the well valiantly in spite of his injuries and fought with the two of them until he was overpowered. However, he did give them a chance to escape and find their own way back.

purushu pretham ending explained

In reality, Dileep found him floating in the well with Susanna already gone.

Did Susanna really kill Bobby?

Although we don’t exactly get it spelt out, it’s most likely that Susanna (probably Aby) did end up killing Bobby in order to get away from his abusive tendencies. The police aren’t able to find the body, though and have no idea what actually happened to him.

Whose body did Sebastian find in actuality?

Thanks to the ring on the body, which Dileep had kept with him in secret, it is revealed that the body was of Sebastian’s girlfriend’s husband who went missing some time back. The police were never able to get any leads on the case, and things remained unsolved till then.

Why weren’t the police able to find the body?

When Sebastian and the team try to dig up the body in the marshland, they are unable to find it. Desperate, with further issues breathing down their necks, Sebastian and Dileep venture out to know where the body could’ve gone. In the end, thanks to Dileep’s negligence, it is revealed that the body was buried somewhere else, and they didn’t know the location because Dileep didn’t see through with his job and came back home to watch a reality TV show.

How did the wrong body get proved to be Bobby’s?

Susanna bribed the lab to get things in their favour, of course.

Purushu Pretham is streaming on SonyLIV.
