Priyanka Chopra on Speaking NOW About Getting Cornered in Bollywood, Making Peace With a “Tumultuous Relationship”

During the special press conference, as part of the Indian promotion tour of Citadel, Priyanka Chopra addressed several issues, ranging from the show’s concept to the true meaning of diversity and even her recent comments spilling the dirt on Bollywood. With her co-star by her side, Chopra first spoke on their upcoming Amazon Prime Video Original series created by Josh Appelbaum and Bryan Oh.

However, it was inevitable that questions related to her recent-most interview would pop up in the mix. As one of the journalists took the stand to initiate the discussion around her conversation with Dax Shepard on the podcast ‘Armchair Expert’, Priyanka was finally asked about being “put into a corner” and why she felt safe enough to speak about it NOW. The same matter also digs into why she sought work opportunities in Hollywood.

Priyanka once again broke her silence, further delving into why she felt it necessary to share these truths now and what encouraged her to do so. Here’s what her answer was – “I think that first of all when I was on the podcast I was asked about the journey of my life, and I spoke about about when I was young, when I was 10, when I was 15, when I was 22, 30, 40… so I was talking about the truth of my journey and I think now I was confident enough to talk about that phase of my life.”

“I think now where I am, I was okay enough to kind of articulate what I felt. I think I had a very tumultuous relationship with what occurred, but I forgave, I moved on a long time ago and then I made my peace with it. And I think that’s why it was easy for me to talk about it in an open manner… in a safe space.”
