As the detective’s investigation progresses, he discovers that his connection to the supernatural world runs deeper than he thought. Furthermore, he decides to confront his own past and personal connection in order to fully embrace his role as a part of the creatures.

The protector is mysteriously revived into a full entity, suggesting that he has become more deeply connected to the supernatural world and the creatures he has been protecting. This is what sets the stage for the second season to explore the consequences of his sacrifice and new life.
