Percy Jackson and the Olympians is getting a full-fledged makeover under the guidance of the Demigod novel series’ author Rick Riordan, who has once again shut down any hopes of Logan Lerman’s return as the gruff Greek God Poseidon. The writer penned down a blog on November 11, 2022, titled Another Good Week in the Wintry Northwest, wishing everyone a Happy Veterans’ Day and also saying a lot about what PJO fans have been counting on.
The latter half of the blog spilled details of the upcoming Disney Plus series, particularly addressing the matter of the series’ casting, especially for the Olympian Gods. Firstly he takes the time to explain how “not all twelve Olympian gods appear in book one, so not all gods will appear in season one, nor have all gods been cast yet.”
Currently, the team’s focus is on scripting the course of the first season, which he confirms won’t feature Gods like Aphrodite, Artemis, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter. The Big Three, however – Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus are yet to be cast. Fans have been eager to find out whether the former film adaptation’s (of the same title) very own Percy Jackson, played by Logan Lerman in 2010 and 2013 in The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, respectively (covering the first two books) will be back to play Percy’s father – Poseidon.
It still remains to be one of the major wishes in the hearts of the fans. Lerman has been repeatedly asked this question as well during various interviews for other projects. And though he has fumbled to answer the question while eventually claiming that he won’t be coming back, fans have taken this as a response reminiscent of Andrew Garfield’s reaction on being asked about Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, now that Riordan has put this blog out despite his hiatus from social media, it has once again (and probably for good this time) shunned the idea of the return of any of the former cast members of the film adaptations.

The author firmly states, “The answer should not surprise you if you’ve read anything I’ve said about the movies over the last decade…the whole point of me being involved in the TV show is to make sure this is a completely different production and a fresh start for Percy Jackson”. Therefore, a completely new cast will be picking up the “clean slate” which doesn’t have any room for such crossovers between the TV series and the movie. It will “be it’s own thing”.
The actors who’ve been confirmed to be a part of the series, for now, are – Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Olivea Morton as Nancy Bobofit, Suzanne Cryer as Echidna, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano, Megan Mullally as Alecto or Mrs. Dodds and Glynn Turman as Chiron or Mr. Brunner.
