Overlord Season 4 Episode 11 Overview

The original, actually good MMO-based isekai show is back for its fourth season with Overlord Season 4. Overlord Season 4 Episode 11 Review- The Acting Sorcerer King

Let’s start off with some positives again, for there were quite a few in this episode. Say what you want about the show and how it isn’t at its peak at the moment, the good parts about it are still just as good as they used to be. The world-building and the new characters introduced each season bring a lot of excitement into the show and are often the things people most look forward to whenever a new season of Overlord is announced. This episode made use of some characters that the show introduced so far back that they had almost been forgotten until they made an appearance here.

The feeling you get when there’s an apparent unknown character who then reveals themselves to be someone that the show set up weeks ago for a moment, such as this one, is fantastic. To reveal who that character is would constitute breaking our spoiler rule, so we’ll refrain from doing that. However, that made for a great little moment towards the end of this episode. It is moments like these that remind people of how good this show used to be and still is at some points. Just because this season has been a bit of a dud, it doesn’t mean it can’t improve and reach its old heights again.

The razing down of the kingdom by Ainz and his forces hasn’t been pointless, but it has been as close to it as one can physically get without being it. The entire point behind this was that Ainz wanted to find some, if any, of the players that were left behind in this world. However, all that he has found so far has been functionally useless. His acquisitions and victories have been numerous but have only served to adorn his kingdom hidden away from sight with nary an update to the watcher. Do you know what happened to all those characters from the previous seasons? More importantly, do you care?

The show did great with a character they barely introduced for a minute at the start of this season. However, it keeps doing all the characters that have been around for all this time very dirty. They are either forgotten in Ainz’s dungeon or killed off to make an impact, and I don’t know which one is worse. Zanac got a great moment in the last episode before he was dispatched, and the same is probably going to happen to Brain and the Princess alike. None of them feels like they have much of a role left in the show, especially not as weak as they are.

There was a lot of action in this episode as Ainz felt vulnerable for the first time in the show since forever. However, there were not-so-subtle clues lying around throughout the happenings that indicated that something was wrong with whatever was going on. From there, following the actions of Ainz and Albedo wasn’t hard, and the end of the episode twist didn’t come as a surprise to anyone. However, just because it was predictable doesn’t mean it was bad, and it was the sort of thing which you wonder why the show hadn’t done before.
Verdict
Overlord Season 4 Episode 11 was a great episode that featured some fantastic action and even better callbacks to previous episodes.
