After the explosive ending in the last episode, we watch Ji-ung’s interactions with his mother when he was young. Poor thing was ignored so hard when he was young he never really created that connection with the one person he wanted to connect so hard with. Plus, Ung’s close relationship with his mother didn’t do well for his psyche. He constantly asked himself why everyone got along with their mothers except for him. The answer comes when he asks his mother whether she’d be able to live without him. Her mother replies saying that she wouldn’t be living this pathetic life without him. Oof, that’s going to need loads of therapy to get over!
Back in the present, Ung eyes the Swarovski store wondering whether he should buy anything for Yeon-su. He remembers all the time she had said that she doesn’t want gifts, but also remembers how she’d said that she used to lie those times. Either way, he gets her gifts and in spite of him wondering whether she’d scream at him, she looks extremely happy. They then spend the entire day together being extremely cute and cuddly.

Everyone else, too, tries to move on with their lives – Ji-ung drowns himself in his work (well, he has not moved on, but you know), Sol-yi’s crush on Eun-ho is having a toll on her and NJ promises to move towards greener pastures. On the other hand, Ung is finally having his night exhibit. He looks happy and proud that he could pull this off. The exhibit is a huge success but Ung is nervous about the number of people who showed up. He talks to Yeon-su to put his mind at ease, who promises to be there on the last day.
As the days pass and everyone gets on with their everyday lives, there’s a hilarious scene where Yeon-su tells her colleagues to come visit “her boyfriend’s” exhibit because he’ll regret it if he doesn’t. On the last day, NJ makes a surprise visit and asks Ung to be friends with her – her declaration of friendship is quite odd though and Ung, too, is shocked.
Either way, Yeon-su isn’t able to reach the exhibition on time after her grandmother falls sick and Nu-a shows up at Ung’s exhibit to insult him and call his drawings empty. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Yeon-su’s grandmother implores her to not live like her and to have fun, that she shouldn’t just live for her and keep people around her.

On the other hand, Ung meets up with Ji-ung, who has also not visited Ung’s exhibition. Among the silly banter, Ji-ung tells Ung that his mother is dying but he doesn’t feel sad at all. An uncomfortable declaration that makes Ung say that everything and everyone is pitiful. As they share a laugh, Yeon-su tries calling Ung, who does not answer.
He comes back home in Our Beloved Summer episode 15 to find Yeon-su crying on his doorstep. She sobs and tells him that she ruined everything again, Ung is confused and she constantly apologises. However, Ung says that she won’t ruin anything anymore. Yeon-su continues sobbing and tells him that she’s in a lot of pain. He doesn’t share his pain with her, where a famous critic has harshly criticised his drawing, calling it immature.
Despite everything, Ung puts on a brave face for Yeon-su, hugs her, and ushers her inside.
In the epilogue, Ung tells Yeon-su that he wants to go to the foreign school with her.
Final THoughts: Our Beloved Summer episode 15

Facing realities. That’s what this episode was about. How do you manoeuvre the horrible things that life throws at you in a mature way? Ung showcases how to handle it like a pro, Ji-ung is a bit rusty and Yeon-su is finally shown opening up to the people around her and asking for help. It’s a wonderful twist of situations and moments that will break your heart into a million pieces but these interactions that the ones that keep us hoping. Hope that one day, the bad things will happen less and our protagonists will find comfort and happiness when times get tough. Now, excuse me while I get myself a tissue to wipe these tears.
