Oshi No Ko Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

This episode starts with Abiko-sensei attending a stage play that Aqua recommended. After watching it, she finally understands how different a stage play is from a manga. During the event, she meets Raida, the man behind both stage plays. Initially, he nervously asks for her opinion, but after hearing her positive feedback, he gains the confidence to share a hard truth.
Raida drops his cautious tone and bluntly tells Abiko-sensei that just as it’s tough for a writer to suddenly become a great manga artist, it will be equally challenging for her to become a great scriptwriter overnight. He explains that while the team will follow her script, she must take full responsibility for the outcome.

If the production fails, the blame will fall on her shoulders. As someone accountable for the jobs of many, Raida wants Abiko to grasp the gravity of the situation. Thankfully, Abiko understands his point and agrees to collaborate with Goa.
The second half of the episode delves into the psychological struggles of Aqua. When a scene requires deep emotional acting, Aqua struggles, especially when a prompt from Kana triggers memories of his late mother. His inability to act convincingly, coupled with PTSD from failing to save his true love Ai, sends Aqua into shock. How he navigates this crisis and what unfolds next is something you’ll need to watch to fully experience.
Oshi No Ko Season 2 Episode 5 Review

After putting forward his insecurity and secrets in front of Akane, she has definitely become closer to Aqua more than ever. Their relationship takes a huge leap, and you can tell that now Aqua has a particular kind of faith in Akane that he never had with anyone else. He even agrees to let Akane see his acting videotapes from when he was a child actor, something that he did not even allow Kana to do. Perhaps this kind of trust comes from the fact that Akane is almost blindly in love with our hero.
She is so supportive of him and so willing to accept him in any form that she even agrees to become an accomplice when Aqua relays his wish to murder someone when he becomes famous. You can tell that Akane is telling the truth because of her unwavering conviction, which even surprised Aqua for a moment. This is where a team forms between this fake girlfriend and boyfriend who also wishes to challenge acting together.

Both of them are struggling with their parts as Akane wants to defeat Kana, and Aqua wants to get over his psychological barrier. Thus, they plan to train vehemently with director Gotanda, who also gives some acting pointers to our hero. The problem is just one thing, an emotion-filled acting, which is the kryptonite of Aqua.
However, things become pretty intense, and many rivalries emerge between the actors towards the second half of the episode. Kana challenges Akane in an all-out acting face-off, and Taiki comes forward to support Kana. On the other hand, we see Melt fighting his own battle because he, too understands how lacking he is compared to others when it comes to acting.
Verdict

Today’s episode was serious, funny and, at the same time, extreme. This show does not let you have a single moment of dullness, and it really fills you up with all kinds of emotions in less than 30 minutes. The part where Kana was teasing Akane for looking up to her when they were young, was the most hilarious segment of the show and I just loved it.
