One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

Child Emperor successfully rescues Waganma, and the two attempt to return to safety. On the way, however, Child Emperor realises that the bird monster he defeated earlier is modelled after a TV character with regenerative abilities. As expected, the creature revives itself, and this time transforming into an entirely new and far more dangerous being known as Phoenix Man. With most of his equipment already used up, Child Emperor is forced to rely on his own strength to face this unexpected threat.

As the fight progresses, Phoenix Man proves to be far stronger than Child Emperor anticipated, pushing him to the brink. Overwhelmed, Child Emperor breaks down, distressed by the realisation that he must resort to his ultimate weapon against an opponent who is not even considered a major boss. This moment highlights his inner conflict and disappointment in his own limitations. Eventually, he activates a massive, transformer-like combat suit. While incredibly powerful, the armour has strict constraints, making it crucial for him to end the battle quickly.

The confrontation ultimately becomes one of the standout fights in the series, largely due to its better-than-usual animation quality. The steady escalation of tension and action tries to keep viewers hooked, but again, the episode was not well-made enough to call it good.

The episode begins with Zombie Man facing off against one of the most difficult opponents ever. He goes to a mysterious room which is filled with monsters, and there he meets Vampire, who obviously has tremendous powers. Right off the bat, Vampire attacks Zombie Man and bites him. However, this does not affect Zombie Man in the slightest, and he stands his ground. In this fight, Zombie Man loses multiple times, but because he comes back to life every time, he eventually defeats Vampire and shreds him to pieces. But he does not stop there, as he goes on to beat some other monsters as well.

However, he is not alone because the crew of Atomic Samurai gets involved with Do S. Thankfully, just at that moment, Sweet Mask comes to the rescue and takes her on. This fight was interesting precisely because it was alluded that Sweet Mask has a secret that no one knows. He also defeats her in a very ruthless and villainous way, something that we have not seen him do.

On the other hand, the subordinates of Atomic Samurai find themselves in front of another villain called Malong Hair. This villain can utilise his hair to land blows. Needless to say, this episode as well got very basic animation that otherwise would not have impressed anyone. But because the situation with One Punch Man is so dire that even this feels like it’s acceptable.

Apart from the fact that we get the bare minimum in the animation department, there was not much to talk about in this episode, precisely because the main characters are yet to be shown here. We have not seen Saitama, nor have we seen any other prominent heroes that would actually make the episode a bit more bearable.

  1. Watchable if it wasn’t called One Punch Man, but it is. And he’s been on screen for about a minute total over the last 5 episodes. What a waste of time.

  2. How can a disaster like this be watchable? There are already clip fanmade that are waaaaaaay better than what we actually got. Sadly this project is a total failure at this point just shut it down and let it rest. Basically we have a Berserk 2.0 all over again
