One Punch Man Season 3 Overview

The third season of One-Punch Man continues to adapt the beloved webcomic created by ONE, along with its highly acclaimed manga version illustrated by Yusuke Murata. Officially announced in August 2022, this long-awaited instalment brings back most of the original voice cast and staff from the second season. Produced by J.C.Staff, the new season is directed by Shinpei Nagai, who steps in to replace Chikara Sakurai. The visual team also sees new additions, with Sakura Murakami taking over as art director from Shigemi Ikeda and Yukiko Maruyama, and Yuki Hirose replacing Yoshio Ōkouchi as the director of photography.

The third season premiered on October 12, 2025, marking the series’ grand return after years of anticipation. A special recap episode revisiting key events from season two aired a week earlier on October 5, setting the stage for Saitama’s next wave of over-the-top battles. The season is streaming on Hulu in the United States, Disney+ in Canada, and Crunchyroll across Europe and the Middle East.

Musically, the series keeps its signature energy intact. The opening theme, “Get No Satisfied!”, is performed by JAM Project featuring Babymetal, delivering a powerful mix of rock and metal that matches the anime’s explosive tone. Meanwhile, the ending theme, “Soko ni Aru Akari” (“The Light That’s There”), performed by Makoto Furukawa, provides an emotional contrast.

The moment the episode starts, the threat from the monster association becomes apparent. The hero association is worried that the hero hunter will hunt down more heroes and that he must be stopped at any cost. Now they have issued an emergency alert as they are preparing for any upcoming threat. Apart from that, there is also the problem of rescuing the sponsor’s son, which is why Sekingal, the hero, takes the duty of heading the operation.

But they do not know the base of the perpetrators, and Child Emperor tries his best to find it. Later, Atomic Samurai also gets notified about the entire situation, and it is important to note that fate is working against the hero association right now. On the other hand, Saitama is playing games in his home with his new friends who are chilling at his place. Fubuki goes there and is stunned to find the topmost heroes all with Saitama. There, they discuss what they can do in the future and hold a strategy meeting.

Here, Saitama becomes very miffed that even though Garou is hunting heroes, he has not come for him yet. He believes this is because he is called the Caped Baldy, and that is something that is unforgivable for Saitama. Finally, we find Garou at the monster association that saved him in the previous season. After rescuing Garou, they literally offered him the position of their leader.

Verdict

The episode was pretty good as it effectively showcased all the important bits that one would need to start the much-anticipated third season. However, the concerns regarding the animation feel quite real because it does not look that good. It is very clear that we will not be seeing an animation revival of One Punch Man, and we will have to accept the bare minimum and be happy with it. The animation literally reminded me of Blue Lock Season 2, which also suffered from this kind of slideshow production.
