The Anthrax Attacks Trailer: Netflix’s Upcoming Documentary Unearths the Anthrax Spores Story

Netflix’s documentary range is expanding and the release of The Anthrax Attacks trailer flaunts what the OTT giant has in store for us next. Unearthing the story of the fatal anthrax spores that wreaked havoc, the upcoming show comes from the Oscar-nominated director Dan Krauss.

Prior to this Netflix documentary, the same story has also been covered in National Geographic’s The Hot Zone: Anthrax which came out in 2011. Other representations of this attack include Criminal Minds Season 4 Episode 24 and Robert Stack’s Unsolved Mysteries Season 12 finale.

The upcoming documentary film is produced by BBC Studios and is titled The Anthrax Attacks: In the Shadow of 9/11. It will be a mix of interviews and scripted reenactments of the fatal attack that took place days after the 9/11 tragedy. The film will also feature an intense FBI investigation that looked into the source of anthrax. The trailer reveal definitely offers vibes similar to HBO’s award-winning limited series Chernobyl.

The trailer for the docu-film opens with the line: ‘An invisible enemy, killing Americans one breath at a time’, appropriately summarizing how the 2001 attack threatened the United States. Giving an insight into the largest and the most complex FBI investigations in the history of law enforcement, The Anthrax Attacks looks promising and eerie.

The attack killed 5 Americans and made 17 fall severely ill, making it one of the worst biological attacks in the history of the United States. It followed only a week after the 9/11 terrorist attacks that shook the entire world and left the entire nation cold with panic and paranoia. This scientific tale is a heartbreaking story that will be told through survivors, investigators and families of the infected in this upcoming documentary film.

The Anthrax Attacks trailer description reads: “Days after 9/11, letters containing fatal anthrax spores spark panic and tragedy in the US. This documentary from Oscar-nominated director Dan Krauss (Extremis) and BBC Studios Production follows the subsequent FBI investigation.”
