Netflix’s Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave Review: One Rotten Coleslaw and Everything Changes!

Malibu Rescue & The Beachmaster

When I started watching Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave, I knew something predictable was coming up but it’s fun to see how much of a teen movie you can predict. And, not to my surprise, all of my predictions came true!

Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave

Malibu Rescue shares the message about winning and failures, teamwork, and the importance of meaningful friendships. While the message it carries is good, the story is pale and predictable and fails to develop any of its characters through its storyline. The backdrop is the beach, a beautiful location, but the script doesn’t do much justice to it.

With The International Junior Rescue Championships around the corner, Tyler, Dylan, Eric, Lizzie, and Gina play their role as rescuers and volunteer as organizers for the upcoming event. But to their surprise, they are asked to do nothing but serve food to the competing teams. Out of jealousy and anger, Tyler serves the winning team with a streak of 4 wins 17 years old, rotten coleslaw (why that is a thing is beyond me). Ultimately team USA has bad food poisoning and ultimately they are out of the game.

Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave

Winning is important now for the substitute USA team (Tyler, Dylan, Eric, Lizzie, and Gina). The question is, do they win like true heroes? Well, that’s for you to know!

Sasha (Ella Gross) plays an adorable role in the movie as a little kid who just wants to help but messes up, you know.

Netflix's Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave Review: One Rotten Coleslaw and Everything Changes!

SKIP IT! Despite its cute and loveable teen cast, Malibu Rescue fails to capture audiences the way it tries to. The message is clear towards the end but initially, it is just pushing the narrative. The movie is ideal for children but for an adult mind, it is more of a basic, predictable flick for a pass time!

The cast surely is engaging but I can’t say the same about the story. It’s fun but not if you like thriller or action shows!

Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave is now streaming on Netflix.
